An overview of the family Leucospidae (Hymenoptera, Chalcidoidea) is provided for the leucospid fauna of the Arabian Peninsula. Two genera containing four species are identified based on morphometrics and colour patterns. One species, Usman, Anwar & Ahmad, , is described.

Review of the genus Sparasion Latreille, 1802 (Hymenoptera: Platygastroidea: Sparasionidae) of the Oriental region with descriptions of new species from India.

Background: The genus Sparasion, endoparasitoids of Tettigoniidae, occur in the Nearctic, Palearctic, Afrotropical and Oriental regions. It is absent in the Neotropics and Australasia. Of the thirteen species found in the Oriental region only a single species is from India.

Gastric antral vascular ectasia (GAVE) syndrome is a rare but often challenging etiology of upper gastrointestinal bleeding (UGIB).We report on a 60-year-old patient with liver cirrhosis, GAVE syndrome and recurrent and refractory GAVE-related UGIB. During a 5-month hospital stay, the patient required a total of 82 packed red blood cells (pRBCs) and 23 gastroscopies.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive irreversible neurodegenerative disorder characterized by excessive deposition of β-amyloid (Aβ) oligomers, and neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs), comprising of hyperphosphorylated tau proteins. The cholinergic system has been suggested as the earliest and most affected molecular mechanism that describes AD pathophysiology. Moreover, cholinesterase inhibitors (ChEIs) are the potential class of drugs that can amplify cholinergic activity to improve cognition and global performance and reduce psychiatric and behavioral disturbances.

Effectiveness of central plus peripheral stimulation (CPPS) on post stroke upper limb motor rehabilitation.

Purpose: This study was to assess the motor-cortex integrity and reaction time of the upper limb in patients early after stroke after CPPS approach with Theta Burst Stimulation (TBS) an repetitive Trans-cranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) paradigm and Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES).

Methods: Ten patients and ten age matched controls underwent three experimental sessions in three consecutive weeks. First-week W1 (TBS) with TBS alone, second-week W2 (NMES) with NMES alone and third-week W3 (TBS + NMES) with both TBS and NMES given sequentially.

Additive effects of sequential excitatory and inhibitory theta burst stimulation in improving cortical excitability following ischaemic stroke.

Purpose: To study the effects of sequential excitatory and inhibitory theta burst stimulation (TBS) on cortical excitability in patients with subacute ischaemic stroke.

Methods: Fifteen patients with first-ever middle cerebral artery ischaemic stroke within last three months were subjected to intermittent TBS over the hand area (M1) of the stroke hemisphere (iTBS) followed by continuous TBS over the intact hemisphere M1 (cTBS). The study measured motor evoked potential (MEP) amplitude, resting motor threshold (RMT) and contralateral cortical silent period (cCSP) at baseline and after 7 minutes of each TBS session.

Astaxanthin improves behavioral disorder and oxidative stress in prenatal valproic acid-induced mice model of autism.

Prenatal exposure to valproic acid on gestational day 12.5 may lead to the impaired behavior in the offspring, which is similar to the human autistic symptoms. To the contrary, astaxanthin shows neuroprotective effect by its antioxidant mechanism.

Physiotherapy practice in stroke rehabilitation: a cross-sectional survey of physiotherapists in the state of Kerala, India.

Background: Physiotherapy, a major component of rehabilitation for stroke patients, has been shown to have a positive effect on outcome. However, there is debate over efficacy of different interventions related to stroke rehabilitation.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare knowledge and attitudes of physiotherapists working with stroke patients in Kerala, India, with emphasis on demographics, approach to treatment, and beliefs about stroke rehabilitation.
