Background: Salt stress is considered to be one of the major abiotic stresses influencing rice growth and productivity. To improve rice crop productivity in saline soils, it is essential to choose a suitable variety for mitigating salt stress and gain a deep understanding of the underlying mechanisms. The current study explored the salt tolerance mechanism of wild rice 'HD96-1 (salt resistive)' and conventional rice 'IR29 (salt sensitive)' by evaluating morph-physiological, transcriptomic, and metabolomic approaches.

Many wounds can be challenging to manage because of pain and poor angiogenesis. An ideal treatment for such wounds would be a gel that can induce angiogenesis to accelerate wound healing and to reduce pain. Our aim in this study was to explore combining 2-deoxy-d-ribose (2dDR) to induce angiogenesis with lidocaine hydrochloride to reduce pain in the form of a tube-based gel.

This study investigates the potential of Spirulina platensis, a blue-green algae species, for the remediation of sewage wastewater, providing a sustainable approach to wastewater management. Over a 20-day period, with aeration at 3 L/min, Spirulina effectively reduced key pollutants, including chemical oxygen demand (COD), phosphate, nitrate, magnesium, and other impurities. Advanced analyses using FTIR, SEM, and EDX revealed that the primary mechanism of remediation was the adsorption of contaminants onto Spirulina.

Chronic aortic dissection is a complex disease with a heterogenous clinical course. Specialised imaging is necessary for the long-term surveillance of this disease to identify patients who meet the criteria for intervention, and to monitor surgically treated patients for complications. Whilst computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging are the most widely utilised modalities, providing a high degree of anatomical detail and reproducible aortic measurements, they are not without significant limitations.

Children suffering from severe acute malnutrition (SAM) have a weakened immune system. The relationship between malnutrition and alterations in the frequency of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) remains unclear. This study investigated the altered immune responses in Bangladeshi children with SAM compared to healthy children.

AMoRE searches for the neutrinoless double beta decay using 100 kg of enriched ^{100}Mo. Scintillating molybdate crystals coupled with a metallic magnetic calorimeter operate at milli-Kelvin temperatures to measure the energy of electrons emitted in the decay. AMoRE-I is a demonstrator for the full-scale AMoRE, operated at the Yangyang Underground Laboratory for over two years.

Background: Data regarding the effectiveness of vancomycin resistant Enterococci (VRE) active prophylaxis for preventing early post-liver transplant (LT) VRE infections in VRE-colonized patients are scarce.

Methods: One-hundred-thirty-one pre-LT VRE colonized patients who underwent liver transplantation were enrolled in a retrospective, observational, multicenter study. The incidence of early-onset VRE infections was compared between patients who received active prophylaxis for VRE and those who did not.

Background: In developing settings, comparative data on COVID hospitalised survivors (HS) and non-hospitalised survivors (NHS) is scarce. We determined burdens, incidence, evolution, and associated factors of long COVID-19 over two years among these groups.

Methods: We conducted a longitudinal cohort study in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and recruited confirmed COVID-19 survivors from December 2020 to May 2021 (previously reported).

Insect metamorphosis is a complex developmental process regulated by microRNAs (miRNAs) and hormonal signaling pathways. Key genes driving insect ontogenic changes are precisely modulated by miRNAs, which interact with 20-hydroxyecdysone (20E) and juvenile hormone (JH) to coordinate developmental transitions. Over the past decade, significant progress has been made in understanding miRNA biogenesis, their regulatory roles in gene expression, and their involvement in critical biological processes, including metamorphosis and chitin metabolism.

Background: Lateral epicondylitis, colloquially known as tennis elbow, is a common cause of elbow pain and daily task disability. Caused by repetitive movement, it is typically a degenerative rather than inflammatory event and affects mostly middle-aged patients. Despite its good prognostic nature, its economic burden on the healthcare system encourages research on the efficacity of non-operative injection treatments.

Persistent and recurrent primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) represent significant challenges in the management of PHPT. Persistent PHPT is defined as persistence of hypercalcemia following parathyroidectomy (PTX) or the recurrence of hypercalcemia within the first 6 months following surgery. Recurrent PHPT is defined as recurrence of hypercalcemia after 6 months following PTX and requires normalization of serum calcium prior to the recurrence.

Astrovirus MLB1 (HAstV-MLB1) is non-enveloped RNA virus that cause acute gastroenteritis infection. Despite research progress about infection and pathogenesis of HAstV-MLB1, Currently, no vaccine has been developed to effectively combat this pathogen. The current study is based on immunoinformatics and reverse vaccinology approaches to design next-generation, multi-epitope-based vaccine models against HAstV-MLB1.

Purpose Of Review: This review examines the existing literature on metabolic pathways associated with bladder cancer (BC) and investigates four domains: (1) diagnoses, (2) cancer classification (staging & grading), (3) tracking, and (4) treatment.

Recent Findings: A systematic search of relevant databases identified studies meeting predefined inclusion criteria. A diverse array of metabolic pathways was found to hold significant biological and clinical relevance to BC, with particular emphasis on amino acid (AA), lipid, nucleic acid (NA), and bioenergetic pathways.

Plant synthetic biology is a rapidly advancing multidisciplinary research area that applies engineering principles to design, construct, and implement new plant capabilities at the molecular, cellular, and whole organism scales. Synthetic gene circuits are important tools for enabling increased customizability in the control of gene expression in plants, with widespread applications spanning new approaches for basic biology to introduction of new traits for advancing agriculture. In this review, we first aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of synthetic circuits.

Rural Bangladesh faces challenges of limited health care resources and a shortage of health care professionals. Informal providers, particularly village doctors, fill this void by being a first point of care and a bridge to the formal health care system. This study explores formally trained physicians' perspectives on village doctors' role in the health care system.

Background: A family history of health conditions may reflect shared genetic and/or environmental risk. It is not well known to what extent family history impacts outcomes among patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Herein, we studied the associations of family history of CKD, diabetes, and other conditions with common comorbidities and kidney disease progression among patients with CKD.

African American (AA) kidney transplant recipients exhibit a higher rate of graft loss compared with other racial and ethnic populations, highlighting the need to identify causative factors. Here, in the Genomics of Chronic Allograft Rejection cohort, pretransplant blood RNA sequencing revealed a cluster of four consecutive missense single-nucelotide polymorphisms (SNPs), within the leukocyte immunoglobulin-like receptor B3 (LILRB3) gene, strongly associated with death-censored graft loss. This SNP cluster (named LILRB3-4SNPs) encodes missense mutations at amino acids 617-618 proximal to a SHP1/2 phosphatase-binding immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitory motif.

Background: Collagen is currently a widely used injectable filler material. Due to the complexity and specificity of the infraorbital structure and function, it undergoes various aging changes earlier in the facial aging process. Additionally, continuous exposure to Ultraviolet (UV) leads to photoaging of the skin.
