Background: Lactate has long been recognized as a key prognostic biomarker in sepsis. Similarly, the prognostic role of the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) has been investigated in various conditions, including sepsis. Previous studies have explored the optimal NLR cutoff to differentiate sepsis survivors from nonsurvivors, predict bacteremia, diagnose sepsis, and assess mortality.

Background: Identifying physical activity (PA) and its barriers among middle-aged women may aid in the development of age-specific health promotion interventions. In Egypt, women, particularly those in the workforce, typically face numerous barriers that result in low levels of PA. This research seeks to assess the prevalence of health-enhancing physical activity (HEPA) among working women at Mansoura University and identify the associated barriers.

Diabetes mellitus (DM) causes multiple kidney problems ultimately leading to renal failure, with a marked rise in the number of patients worldwide requiring renal replacement therapy (RRT). Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) remains a leading cause of morbidity and death despite advancements in treatment; however, recent cardiovascular outcome trials have highlighted the potential benefits of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists and sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors in managing chronic kidney disease (CKD) and cardiovascular risks in type 2 diabetes (T2DM) patients, leading to recommendations for their use following metformin in clinical guidelines. The meta-analysis was run on RevMan 5.

To obtain high efficient elimination of ammonia (NH) from wastewater, Cu(II), Ni(II), and Co(II)) were loaded on Dowex-50WX8 resin (D-H) and studied their removal efficiency towards NH from aqueous solutions. The adsorption capacity of Cu(II)-loaded on D-H (D-Cu) towards NH (q = 95.58 mg/g) was the highest one compared with that of D-Ni (q = 57.

Transportation relies heavily on petroleum products, forcing the adoption of alternative energy sources like hydrogen. Hydrogen is considered the cleanest fuel for the twenty-first century due to its water-based combustion and no CO emissions. However, challenges persist in production, utilization, and storage; employing composite material-based high-pressure storage vessels is increasing in the hydrogen storage sector.

Background: Fever is a common presenting complaint to the pediatric emergency department (PED), especially among oncology patients. While bacteremia has been extensively studied in this population, pneumonia has not. Some studies suggest that chest X-ray (CXR) does not have a role in the investigation of neutropenic fever in the absence of respiratory symptoms, yet non-neutropenic pediatric oncology patients were excluded from these studies.

Herein, we investigated the anti-amoebic activity of phosphonium-chloride-based deep eutectic solvents against pathogenic Acanthamoeba castellanii of the T4 genotype. Deep eutectic solvents are ionic fluids composed of two or three substances, capable of self-association to form a eutectic mixture with a melting point lower than each substance. In this study, three distinct hydrophobic deep eutectic solvents were formulated, employing trihexyltetradecylphosphonium chloride as the hydrogen bond acceptor and aspirin, dodecanoic acid, and 4-tert-butylbenzoic acid as the hydrogen bond donors.

Purpose: To introduce a novel design for scan body accessory parts that are reusable, easy to attach and detach without permanent change of the scan body, and can be used with different inter-implant distances to enhance the accuracy of complete arch implant scans.

Materials And Methods: A maxillary polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) model with a soft tissue replica was fabricated with four implant analogs located at tooth positions 17, 13, 22, and 27 with 18, 25, and 30 mm inter-implant distances. Four scan bodies (SBs) were attached to the implants.

Schistosomiasis is the second most debilitating neglected tropical disease in the world. Liver egg granuloma and fibrosis are the main damage of schistosomiasis. In this study, the role of allograft inflammatory factor-1 (AIF-1) in liver pathology and its regulation in immune responses were investigated in a transgenic mouse infected with Schistosoma japonicum.

Purpose: Attempts have been made to decontaminate the implant surface by using diode lasers. However, the parameters that provide efficient decontamination without altering the topography or surface characteristics of titanium implants are still unclear. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of altering the power of diode laser (940 nm) application on the hydrophilicity, surface topography, and chemical composition of sandblasted, large grit, acid-etched (SLA) treated titanium alloy implant surface.
