Multisystemic impact of autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease: A case report highlighting renal, hepatic, and neurological involvement.

We present a case of a 64-year-old male with Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD), characterized by systemic involvement, including renal, hepatic, and neurological complications. The patient presented with persistent micturition difficulties, hematuria, and abdominal pain, compounded by hypertension and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Imaging revealed bilateral renal enlargement with hemorrhagic cysts, a kidney stone, and hepatic cysts causing hepatomegaly.

Treatment-resistant Cushing disease and acromegaly in a young woman: A case of functional pituitary macroadenoma.

Cushing disease and acromegaly are common endocrine disorders caused by excessive cortisol and growth hormone production, respectively. Both conditions can co-occur due to functioning pituitary adenomas, which are typically benign pituitary gland tumors. This report discusses a 30-year-old woman with hyperpituitarism leading to treatment-resistant Cushing disease and acromegaly caused by a functional pituitary macroadenoma.

Efficacy and safety of office-based diode laser ablation for recurrent low-grade non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer under local anaesthesia: A pilot study.

Introduction: Low-grade tumors account for approximately 50% of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) with recurrence rates between 46% and 62%. Management of NMIBC recurrence typically involves transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT) under general or regional anesthesia, which carries perioperative risks and considerable healthcare costs due to repeated procedures. Therefore, less invasive treatments such as office-based laser ablation, which aim to manage recurrences and reduce inpatient procedures without compromising oncological control, are needed.

Web-Based Passive Surveillance: Multifactorial Assessment of Sonali Chicken Diseases and Antimicrobial Prescription Pattern in Bangladesh.

Despite the significant growth in Sonali chicken production across Bangladesh, inadequate disease surveillance and control measures along with indiscriminate antimicrobial use remain major challenges to the sector. In this study, we evaluated the disease burden and antimicrobial prescription patterns of Sonali chickens in Bangladesh using a web-based data recording system from 2020 to 2021 and analyzed 1690 cases. The diagnoses recorded in the system were presumptive, as they were based on clinico-epidemiological history, clinical signs, and gross necropsy findings noted by registered veterinarians.

Intra-arterial nicardipine versus verapamil during transradial access coronary catheterization.

Introduction: Intra-arterial (IA) vasodilators are recommended during transradial access (TRA) to prevent radial artery spasm (RAS). The American Heart Association (AHA) recommends either IA verapamil, diltiazem, nicardipine, or nitroglycerin to prevent RAS. To our knowledge, the efficacy of RAS prevention and patient tolerability of verapamil and nicardipine has not been directly compared in a randomized fashion.

Magnetic susceptibility in the assessment of toxic heavy metal elements in the surface sediments of Inner Ambon Bay, Maluku province, Indonesia.

The Inner Ambon Bay (IAB) is an important area for the economic development of the city of Ambon, one of only a few urban areas in eastern Indonesia. This study is intended to monitor the anthropogenic impact on IAB by employing combined rock magnetic and geochemical analyses on 20 samples collected from IAB and the surrounding rivers. Magnetic susceptibility values of samples in the IAB averaged 26.
