Ethiopia and China share a common educational agenda in cultivating and obtaining competent vocational graduates who fulfill the need of the modern, technologically advanced industrial workplace. Unlike most evidence, the present study adopted Self-determination Theory to understand Ethiopian and Chinese higher Vocational education and Training (VET) college students' learning motivation. Hence, this study recruited and interviewed 10 volunteers senior higher VET students from each setting to unfold their satisfaction with psychological needs.

Although scholars investigated the socialization experiences of doctoral students from different perspectives and stages, a large body of evidence is concentrated in western countries that do not define or imply non-western countries like Pakistan. Therefore, the present qualitative study sought to be an icebreaker and stimulant investigation to unfold doctoral students' socialization experience in research-intensive universities through the lens of Weidman's socialization framework.

Development and Validation of a Machine Learning Wrist-worn Step Detection Algorithm with Deployment in the UK Biobank.

Background: Step count is an intuitive measure of physical activity frequently quantified in a range of health-related studies; however, accurate quantification of step count can be difficult in the free-living environment, with step counting error routinely above 20% in both consumer and research-grade wrist-worn devices. This study aims to describe the development and validation of step count derived from a wrist-worn accelerometer and to assess its association with cardiovascular and all-cause mortality in a large prospective cohort study.

Methods: We developed and externally validated a hybrid step detection model that involves self-supervised machine learning, trained on a new ground truth annotated, free-living step count dataset (OxWalk, n=39, aged 19-81) and tested against other open-source step counting algorithms.

Methods: An all-payer claims database identified 11,367 individuals who underwent single-level ALIF and lumbar arthroplasty for degenerative disc disease (DDD) between January 2010 and October 2020.

Cerebral toxoplasmosis is a rare condition that predominantly affects immunocompromised people and is relatively uncommon in immunocompetent individuals. Acute toxoplasmosis primarily presents with focal and diffuse neurological signs and symptoms depending on the site of the lesion, the degree of local damage, and the severity of inflammation. In this report, we present a case of cerebral toxoplasmosis in an immunocompetent adult female who presented with an altered level of consciousness, fever, headache, and shortness of breath.

Deep Monocular Depth Estimation Based on Content and Contextual Features.

Recently, significant progress has been achieved in developing deep learning-based approaches for estimating depth maps from monocular images. However, many existing methods rely on content and structure information extracted from RGB photographs, which often results in inaccurate depth estimation, particularly for regions with low texture or occlusions. To overcome these limitations, we propose a novel method that exploits contextual semantic information to predict precise depth maps from monocular images.

Post-COVID-19 Encephalitis With Claustrum Sign Responsive to Immunomodulation.

We describe a case of encephalitis following coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in a six-and-a-half-year-old girl who presented with acute onset confusion and jerky movements of the limbs. The patient was unvaccinated for COVID-19. Subsequent magnetic resonance imaging revealed a bilateral "claustrum sign" on T2 and fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) images and electroencephalogram reported moderate diffuse encephalopathy.

Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma Clinico-pathological features in relation to Tumor Stage; AJCC 2018 perspective.

Objective: To investigate the association between clinicopathological findings and tumor stage according to AJCC 2018 guidelines in patients suffering from Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC).

Methods: A descriptive study was conducted from January 2019 to January 2020 at King Edward Medical University and University of Health Sciences on a total of 49 patients enrolled after obtaining written informed consent. Clinical and radiographic findings were recorded.
