Article Synopsis
  • Previous studies indicate that oral whole honey can reduce weight gain and inflammation in both rats and human immune cells.
  • The researchers isolated proteins from acacia honey and tested their effects on Wistar rats fed either a normal diet or a high-fat diet for about two months.
  • Results showed that honey proteins significantly reduced weight gain efficiency without affecting energy intake, suggesting potential metabolic benefits that warrant further investigation in humans.

Background: Cubic perovskite titanium stannous oxide (TiSnO3) is a promising material for various applications due to its functional properties. However, understanding how these properties change under external stress is crucial for its development and optimization.

Method: This study employed density functional theory calculations to investigate the structural, electronic, optical, thermal, and mechanical properties of TiSnO3 under varying degrees of external static isotropic stress (0-120 GPa).

MXene has garnered widespread recognition in the scientific community due to its remarkable properties, including excellent thermal stability, high conductivity, good hydrophilicity and dispersibility, easy processability, tunable surface properties, and admirable flexibility. MXenes have been categorized into different families based on the number of M and X layers in MX, such as MX, MX, MX, and, recently, MX. Among these families, MX and MX, particularly TiC, have been greatly explored while limited studies have been given to MX MXene synthesis.

Artificial superhydrophobic surfaces that do not absorb water, like the lotus leaf, show tremendous promise in numerous applications. However, superhydrophobic surfaces are rarely used because of their low stability and endurance. A stable organic superhydrophobic surface (SHS) composed of novel morphology Ag-nanoparticles (NPs) has been fabricated on a copper alloy etching, immersion, spraying, and annealing treatment, along with a static water contact angle (WCA) of 158 ± 1° and sliding angle (SA) less than 2°.

Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) is identified as the functional receptor for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), the causative agent of the ongoing global coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. This study aimed to elucidate potential therapeutic avenues by scrutinizing approved drugs through the identification of the genetic signature associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection in individuals with asthma. This exploration was conducted through an integrated analysis, encompassing interaction networks between the ACE2 receptor and common host (co-host) factors implicated in COVID-19/asthma comorbidity.

To meet the energy demand of modern civilization, efforts to find renewable, safe, and highly effective fuel generation are still a big challenge. The oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is one of many modern technologies for hydrogen generation, and a number of new electrode materials have been created to increase the effectiveness of O evolution. This project utilizes a range of high performance nanomaterials, such as Pr-MOF, FeO, and Pr-MOF/FeO, to carry out the oxygen evolution reaction.
