Corneal Melt and Perforation Associated With Prolonged Oral Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug (NSAID) Use: A Case Report.

Corneal melt and perforation can arise from various etiologies, including the use of toxic topical drops, particularly topical non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). The literature has frequently documented the association between the use of topical NSAIDs and the subsequent development of corneal ulcers. More recently, reports have emerged linking the use of oral NSAIDs and colchicine to impaired corneal wound healing and corneal perforation.

Cyclophotocoagulation versus Ahmed Glaucoma Implant in Neovascular Glaucoma with Poor Vision at Presentation.

Purpose: To evaluate the outcomes of surgical intervention in eyes with neovascular glaucoma (NVG) and poor vision, comparing the Ahmed glaucoma implant with cyclophotocoagulation (CPC).

Patients And Methods: This study is a double-armed cohort retrospective review of medical records of patients with NVG who had a visual acuity of 20/200 or less and underwent one of the two procedures as a primary intervention: Ahmed glaucoma valve (AGV) or cyclophotocoagulation (CPC). The study was conducted at King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from January 2014 to June 2019, with a total study period of 1 year.

Acquired Brown Syndrome After a Fist Punch: A Case Report.

A 15-year-old male presented with double vision in the left and upward gaze following a hit in the right orbital region. The orthoptic assessment revealed -2 limitation of elevation in the adduction position of the right eye and right hypotropia of 20 prism diopter (PD) in the left gaze and right hypotropia of 10 PD in the upward gaze. He was diagnosed with traumatic Brown syndrome and planned for superior oblique lengthening surgery for the right eye.

Awareness of medical law among health care practitioners in Saudi Arabia.

Objectives: To determine the level of awareness of medical law among healthcare practitioners and to identify factors that influence that level of awareness in Saudi Arabia.

Methods: This cross-sectional study was carried out in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 2020-2021 via a survey including 750 healthcare practitioners, from different specialties including all regions in Saudi Arabia. Participants included consultants, senior registrars, interns, and residents.

Purpose: The purpose of the study is to evaluate the common causes of intermediate uveitis (IU) and outcomes of this disease in patients presenting to King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital (KKESH) in Riyadh, KSA.

Methods: This retrospective cohort study evaluated medical files of patients with IU was reviewed. A total of 109 patients were included in the study.

Lateral rectus recession for consecutive exotropia in esotropic Duane syndrome: A case report.

Consecutive exotropia is considered as a rare complication after medial rectus recession that is performed for cases of esotropic Duane syndrome. Here, we present a case of 5-year-old female initially presented with the limitation of abduction, narrowing of the palpebral fissure, and globe retraction of the left eye along with a mild left face turn. She was diagnosed with Duane syndrome Type 1.

Endophthalmitis Post Pars Plana Vitrectomy Surgery: Incidence, Organisms' Profile, and Management Outcome in a Tertiary Eye Hospital in Saudi Arabia.

Purpose: To determine the incidence of endophthalmitis after pars plana vitrectomy (PPV), organisms' profile, and management outcomes at a tertiary eye hospital in a Middle East country.

Methods: In this single-arm cohort study conducted in 2020, medical records of patients who underwent PPV not accompanied by any other intraocular surgery were reviewed; those with a diagnosis of acute endophthalmitis in the immediate postoperative period (within 6 weeks) during the past 6 years were analyzed.

Results: A total of 8153 records of PPV surgeries were reviewed.

Objectives: The objective of this study was to discover the characteristics of informal caregivers of elderly patients; to determine the socioeconomic, psychological, and physical consequences facing informal caregivers; and to measure their burdens and needs.

Materials And Methods: This study was a cross-sectional survey of informal caregivers of elderly patients. Participants were recruited from different hospitals and primary care clinics in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
