Perceived Benefits of Bariatric Surgery: Patient Perspectives.

Background: Obesity is a chronic and complex disease characterized by the excessive accumulation of adipose tissue, which has detrimental effects on health. Evaluating the changes in quality of life (QoL) after bariatric surgery complements the medical benefits which are documented by healthcare professionals.

Purpose: To study the perceived health benefits 1 year after substantial weight loss induced by bariatric surgery.

Acquired Brown Syndrome After a Fist Punch: A Case Report.

A 15-year-old male presented with double vision in the left and upward gaze following a hit in the right orbital region. The orthoptic assessment revealed -2 limitation of elevation in the adduction position of the right eye and right hypotropia of 20 prism diopter (PD) in the left gaze and right hypotropia of 10 PD in the upward gaze. He was diagnosed with traumatic Brown syndrome and planned for superior oblique lengthening surgery for the right eye.

Awareness of medical law among health care practitioners in Saudi Arabia.

Objectives: To determine the level of awareness of medical law among healthcare practitioners and to identify factors that influence that level of awareness in Saudi Arabia.

Methods: This cross-sectional study was carried out in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 2020-2021 via a survey including 750 healthcare practitioners, from different specialties including all regions in Saudi Arabia. Participants included consultants, senior registrars, interns, and residents.

The burden perceived by informal caregivers of the elderly in Saudi Arabia.

Objectives: The objective of this study was to discover the characteristics of informal caregivers of elderly patients; to determine the socioeconomic, psychological, and physical consequences facing informal caregivers; and to measure their burdens and needs.

Materials And Methods: This study was a cross-sectional survey of informal caregivers of elderly patients. Participants were recruited from different hospitals and primary care clinics in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Risks of Cefuroxime Prophylaxis for Postcataract Endophthalmitis.

Background: Endophthalmitis after cataract surgery is a rare but vision-threatening complication. Intracameral cefuroxime (ICC) has been reported to be effective at reducing the risk, but concerns regarding the risks associated with this intervention remain.

Methods: Systematic review and synthesis of the literature on ICC, with a focus on the risks of therapy.
