Integrated Behavioral Health Role in Helping Pediatricians Find Long Term Mental Health Interventions with the Use of Assessments.

This article explores the role of assessments in integrated behavioral health within a pediatric primary care setting, specifically exploring what valid and reliable standardized assessments may be used and for what concerns the assessment be of most use. The article also considers how assessments used by integrated behavioral health may inform the type of evidenced-based intervention that would be most appropriate and efficacious for the patient, as well as assist in determining if longer term or more formal mental health treatment may be required.

Dyslexia: neurobiology, clinical features, evaluation and management.

Neurobiology helps us understand the processes that drive neurological processes including dyslexia. This article outlines the neurobiology underpinning typical reading skills and those seen in dyslexia, which is characterized by problems with accurate or fluent word recognition, poor decoding, and poor spelling abilities. There are exciting new developments in the neurobiological changes resulting from educational interventions for dyslexia, though more research is needed in this regard.

The extent of inter- and intra-tumor cell heterogeneity observed in patient tumors appears to be directly associated with patient prognosis. Moreover, studies indicate that targeting distinct subpopulations of tumor cells may be more relevant to successfully managing cancer metastasis. The ability to distinguish and characterize unique tumor cell subpopulations within a given sample is thus exigent.
