The authors analyse the causes of functional and morphological disorders of the locomotor apparatus in 172 patients who had suffered from complicated forms of acute hematogenous osteomyelitis in childhood 2 to 36 years age. They accentuate the necessity for prognosing orthopedic deformities in complicated osteomyelitis processes following a protracted course in a growing organism. Analysis of the cause of disability makes it possible to elaborate stage-by-stage rehabilitation.

After analysing the present practice and describing their experience in 111 caesarean sections, the authors present a new scoring test for evaluation of the degree of the risk from infectious inflammatory complications after caesarean section and implementation of selective antibiotic prophylaxis in accordance with the evaluation. An attempt is made to classify separate factors according to their significance for development of inflammatory complications during the post partial period. The results, schematized on table 1 and figure 1 in the article, illustrate the practical benefit from the test in the prophylaxis of infectious inflammatory complications after caesarean section.

After administration of exogenous cytochrome c into rats with enterocolitis, caused by salmonellae, tissue respiration and oxidative phosphorylation in presence of succinic, alpha-ketoglutaric, pyruvic and oxaloacetic acids were increased in the liver tissue. Treatment with cytochrome c produced a positive effect on the general state of an organism, led to disappearance of macroscopic alterations in mucosa of small intestine. The data obtained suggest that cytochrome c possesses the positive therapeutic effects in enterocolitis caused by salmonellae.

In liver tissue of dogs with experimental chronic enterocolitis rate of phosphorylation and P/O coefficient were decreased, when succinic acid was used as a substrate of oxidation. Within 10-40 days after resection of 1/2 part of small intestine in rats oxidation of succinate was increased with simultaneous decrease in P/O coefficient in liver tissue. In mitochondria of liver tissue on 20th and 30th day after the operation the succinate dehydrogenase activity was increased.
