Polyposis of the colon is a colon cancer predisposition syndrome. Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) accounts for 1% of the cases of inherited colorectal cancer (CRC). The National Register of inherited CRC and polyposis of the intestines keeps track of 18 patients from 14 families with FAP.

In ten healthy volunteers and ten patients with diseases involving the upper section of the gastrointestinal tract (chronic cholecystitis, chronic gastritis) the electrical activity of the colon is registered noninvasively using skin electrodes to the projection site of sigmoid and colon descendens. Recordings are taken with original gastrograph. Apart from the electrocolograms (EColG), the changes in intracolonic pressure in the group of 10 patients are also registered.

The authors report 4 cases with single, non-specific ulcer of rectum. The diagnosis, in all the cases, was made after endoscopic and histological studies. Single ulcer of rectum is for the first time reported in a pregnant woman, that necessitated the interruption of pregnancy.

Two cases of legionella pneumonia are reported in Greek citizens, treated at the Institute for Treatment of Foreigners--Medical Academy, Sofia. The patients mentioned are with grave basic diseases--pulmonary carcinoma. In one of them pneumonia was with a lethal end in spite of the adequate antibiotic therapy.

Three hundred sixty two patients with rectosigmoid cancer are examined by rectoromanoscopy and biopsy in order to establish those of them with manifestations of a proceeding precancer process. Cancer, originated on the base of single polypus was established in 50,94 per cent and 7,54 per cent in relation with preceeding generalized polyposis, in 30,19 per cent malignant villose tumor is concerned, in 4,71 per cent -- cancer, originated on the base of preceeding ulcerohemorrhagic proctocolitis and in only 1,91 per cent -- malignant chronic fibrosclerosed hemorrohoids. Precancer process is established in 29,29 per cent in all of the examined 362 patients with rectosigmoid cancer and in 70,71 per cent of the cases no manifestations of preceeding precancer disease was established, i.

The observations upon the therapeutic effect of Caved S preparation are reported, being a combination of deglycyrrhizinated liquorice, alkalizing substances and vagolytic drugs. The clinical trial of the medicine reveals it to be with a quick effect on the subjective complaints good tolerance and no manifested disturbances on water and electrolyte balance. It is suitable for the treatment of patients with gastric and duodenal ulcers.
