Background: Biological age (BA) is regarded as a more accurate marker of aging than chronological age and is commonly used to assess associations with age-related diseases. The relationship between BA measures and the colorectal cancer (CRC) has not yet been investigated.
Methods: This study utilized data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey.
The oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in seawater is notoriously hindered by slow kinetics and high overpotential, compounded by chloride-induced corrosion, which impedes efficient hydrogen production via seawater electrolysis. A key challenge is to devise an OER catalyst that not only mitigates chlorine oxidation and corrosion but is also cost-effective. In this work, the bimetallic iron-cobalt (FeCo) nanoparticles are swiftly encapsulated within N-doped carbon shells in mere seconds using the Joule-heating technique, a process significantly faster than the several hours required by traditional furnace heating.

We sought to compare the antiviral effectiveness and clinical outcomes of elderly severe patients with COVID-19 receiving these two antiviral agents.
Methods: In this observational study, we identified 249 elderly patients with severe COVID-19 infection who were admitted to the Second Medical Center of the People's Liberation Army General Hospital from December 2022 to January 2023, including 128 azvudine recipients, 66 nirmatrelvir/ritonavir recipients and 55 patients not received antiviral treatments.
The development of the proton exchange membrane water electrolyzer (PEMWE) is still limited by the prohibitive cost and scarcity of iridium (Ir)-based oxygen evolution reaction (OER) catalyst. This work presents a novel catalyst synthesized by precursor-atomization and rapid joule-heating method, successfully doping iridium atoms into polyvalent tungsten blends (W, W, W) based on titanium substrate. The vacancy engineering of unsaturated tungsten oxide (W, W) reconstructs the electronic structure of the catalyst surface, which resulting in the low-valence state iridium species, avoiding excessive oxidation of iridium and accelerating the catalytic kinetics.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted of data from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database on adult patients with primary hepatocellular carcinoma who had undergone LT between 2004 and 2015.
In vitro coagulation and digestion of caprine and bovine micellar casein concentrate (MCC) with or without partial colloidal calcium depletion (deCa) were studied under simulated adult and elderly conditions. Gastric clots were smaller and looser for caprine than bovine MCC, and were further looser with deCa and under elderly condition for both caprine and bovine MCC. Casein hydrolysis and concomitant formation of large peptides was faster for caprine than bovine MCC, and with deCa and under adult condition for caprine and bovine MCC.
