Background: The presence of a DCIS component accompanying invasive breast cancer (IBC) is associated with a higher rate of primary mastectomy compared to IBC without DCIS. After neoadjuvant systemic therapy (NST), HER2+ IBC patients show high response rates, allowing for increasing breast-conserving surgery rates. The aim of this study was to examine surgical trends after NST in a Dutch nationwide HER2+ cohort, and the influence of a DCIS component on mastectomy rate.

Introduction: In up to 72 % of HER2+ invasive breast cancer (IBC), a ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) component is present. The presence of DCIS is associated with increased positive surgical margins after breast-conserving surgery (BCS). The aim of this study was to assess surgical margins, recurrence and survival in a nationwide cohort of HER2+ IBC with versus without a DCIS component, treated with neoadjuvant systemic therapy (NST) and BCS.

Background: Several factors may increase the risk of recurrence of patients diagnosed with hormone receptor-positive human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative (HR+/HER2-) breast cancer (BC). We aim to determine the proportion of patients with high-risk HR+/HER2- BC within the total HR+/HER2- BC cohort and compare their systemic treatments and survival rates with those of patients with low- and intermediate-risk HR+/HER2- BC and triple-negative (TN) BC.

Patients And Methods: Women diagnosed with nonmetastatic invasive HR+/HER2- BC and TNBC in the Netherlands between 2011 and 2019 were identified from the Netherlands Cancer Registry.

Purpose: Ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) is present in more than half of HER2-positive invasive breast cancer (IBC). Recent studies show that DCIS accompanying HER2-positive IBC can be completely eradicated by neoadjuvant systemic therapy (NST). Our aim was to determine the percentage of pathologic complete response of the DCIS component in a nationwide cohort and to assess associated clinicopathologic variables.

Objectives: For patients with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), data about the impact of breast MRI at primary diagnosis on the incidence and characteristics of contralateral breast cancers are scarce.

Methods: We selected all 8486 women diagnosed with primary DCIS in the Netherlands in 2011-2015 from the Netherlands Cancer Registry. The synchronous and metachronous detection of contralateral DCIS (cDCIS) and contralateral invasive breast cancer (cIBC) was assessed for patients who received an MRI upon diagnosis (MRI group) and for an age-matched control group without MRI.

Introduction: Neoadjuvant systemic therapy (NST) is increasingly applied in breast cancer to improve surgical and oncological outcome. Approximately 21% of patients receiving NST achieve pathological complete response (pCR) of the breast. There is disagreement on the definition of pCR with respect to residual DCIS (ypT0 versus ypT0/is).

The aim of this study was to explore the experience of rare cancer patients with the healthcare system and examine differences between age groups (adolescents and young adults (AYA, 18-39 years), older adults (OA, 40-69 years) and elderly (≥70 years)). Dutch sarcoma patients, 2-10 years after diagnosis, completed a questionnaire on their experience with the healthcare system, satisfaction with care, information needs, patient and diagnostic intervals (first symptom to first doctor's visit and first doctor's visit to diagnosis, respectively) and received supportive care. In total, 1099 patients completed the questionnaire (response rate 58%): 186 AYAs, 748 OAs and 165 elderly.

Background: Health-related quality of life (HRQoL) data of sarcoma survivors are scarce and the impact of age remains unclear. The aims of this population-based study were to (i) compare HRQoL scores amongst three age-groups [adolescents and young adults (AYA, aged 18-39 years), older adults (OA, aged 40-69 years) and elderly (aged ≥70 years)]; (ii) compare HRQoL of each sarcoma survivor age group with an age- and sex-matched normative population sample; (iii) determine factors associated with low HRQoL per age group.

Methods: Dutch sarcoma survivors, who were 2-10 years after diagnosis, were invited to complete the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire-Core 30-questions questionnaire on HRQoL.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to perform a systematic review and meta-analysis to determine the diagnostic performance of current noninvasive imaging modalities for assessment of axillary response after neoadjuvant systemic therapy (NST) in clinically node-positive breast cancer patients.

Summary Of Background Data: NST can lead to downstaging of axillary lymph node disease. Imaging can potentially provide information about the axillary response to NST and, consequently, tailor the surgical management.

Objective: The aim was to investigate whether pathologic complete response (pCR) in the breast is correlated with absence of axillary lymph node metastases at final pathology (ypN0) in patients treated with neoadjuvant systemic therapy (NST) for different breast cancer subtypes.

Background: Pathologic complete response rates have improved on account of more effective systemic treatment regimens. Promising results in feasibility trials with percutaneous image-guided tissue sampling for the identification of breast pCR after NST raise the question whether breast surgery is a redundant procedure.
