Background: Shivering is one of the most common complications of spinal anesthesia because of inhibition of the thermoregulatory control. Dexmedetomidine and nalbuphine are the two commonly used drugs for treatment of perioperative shivering, but owing to paucity of their comparative data, we planned this study to compare the efficacy of these two drugs for treatment of post spinal shivering.
Methods: This study was conducted on 80 American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status I or II patients aged from 18 to 60 years who developed post-spinal shivering of grade III or IV during elective surgeries.
Background: During functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS), intranasal bleeding affects operative field visibility and increases the frequency of complications. Therefore, hypotensive anesthesia is a widely used technique to improve surgical outcomes. This study aimed to compare the efficacy of propofol and dexmedetomidine infusion for hypotensive anesthesia in patients undergoing FESS.

Background: Transversus abdominis plane (TAP) block has been demonstrated to be an effective module of multimodal analgesic treatments for infra-umbilical surgeries with limited duration of action. Various adjuvants have been studied to increase the efficacy of this technique. Herein, we evaluated the analgesic efficacy of dexmedetomidine with ropivacaine in TAP block for unilateral infra-umbilical surgeries under spinal anesthesia.

So we planned this study to compare the efficacy of dexmedtomidine with fentanyl in breast cancer surgery in terms of haemodynamic stability, anaesthetic sparing effects, recovery profile and postoperative analgesia.
Material And Methods: In this randomized prospective controlled trial, a total of 60 female patients were randomly assigned into two groups.
Dental fear and anxiety is a common problem in pediatric patients. There is considerable variation in techniques used to manage them. Various sedation techniques using many different anesthetic agents have gained considerable popularity over the past few years.

Methods: This double blind randomized placebo controlled study was conducted on 105 surgical patients of American Society of Anesthesiologist (ASA) physical status І-ІІ, aged between 2 and 9 y in a tertiary-care hospital (February 2014 to September 2015). Participants were randomly allocated to three groups to receive either intranasal dexmedetomidine 2 μg/kg (Group І) or intranasal clonidine 3 μg/kg (Group ІІ) or intranasal saline 0.
Background And Aim: Dexmedetomidine and clonidine are commonly used drugs for sedation during regional anesthesia. However, data regarding arousal time from sedation with these drugs is sparse. Hence, we designed a study to compare arousal time from sedation with dexmedetomidine and clonidine during spinal anesthesia.

Cerebrovascular accident during hypertensive disorder of pregnancy is a rare entity, but carries high risk of mortality and morbidity due to its unpredictable onset and late diagnosis. Here, we report an unusual case of 20-year-old primigravida with 34 weeks gestation having no risk factor, which developed sudden atypical eclampsia and intracranial hemorrhage within few hours. She was successfully managed by multidisciplinary approach including emergency cesarean section and conservative neurological treatment for intraventricular hemorrhage.

Central venous catheterization is generally a safe procedure, but several complications such as pneumothorax, arrhythmias, arterial puncture, infection, and thrombosis are known to occur even in the experienced hands. Complications related to guide wire are very rare and mostly relate to the expertise of operating person. We hereby report a rare but completely avoidable complication, that is, complete loss of the guide wire into the subclavian vein which was successfully retrieved by surgery.

In this, randomized, double-blind study, we evaluated the effectiveness of the addition of dexmedetomidine to varying concentration of levobupivacaine for supra clavicular brachial plexus block.
Material And Methods: After obtaining ethical Committee approval, a double-blind, randomized prospective clinical study was conducted on 90 American Society of Anesthesiologist Grade I and II patients in the age group of 18-55 years, divided randomly into two groups: Group A received 40 ml of solution containing 30 ml 0.
Although mephentermine (Termin) and ephedrine are commonly used drugs for the treatment of hypotension during anesthesia but their abuse have markedly increased, especially in the young population due to its stimulant properties. Here, we report a case of 23-year-old man with a history of chronic mephentermine abuse, posted for Achilles tendon repair under spinal anesthesia. During intraoperative period, spinal induced hypotension showed unusual resistance to ephedrine boluses and was managed by using directly acting vasoconstrictor, that is, phenylephrine.
