Preoperative cryotherapy use in anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction.

Unrelieved postoperative pain may impair rehabilitation, compromise functional outcomes, and lead to patient dissatisfaction. Preemptive multimodal analgesic techniques may improve outcomes after surgery. We hypothesized that patients using preoperative cryotherapy plus a standardized postoperative treatment plan will have lower pain scores and require less pain medication compared with patients receiving a standardized postoperative treatment plan alone after arthroscopically assisted anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR).

Outcome of type II superior labral anterior posterior repairs in elite overhead athletes: Effect of concomitant partial-thickness rotator cuff tears.

Background: There are conflicting reports in the literature regarding the outcome of superior labral anterior posterior (SLAP) repairs in overhead athletes and a paucity of data demonstrating ability to return to prior level of competition.

Hypothesis: Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic shoulder and elbow score provides more accurate assessment of shoulder function and ability to return to previous level of athletic competition after SLAP lesion repair than does the conventional American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons scoring system.

Background: Fixation of proximal humeral fractures is challenging. Locking plate technology offers mechanical advantages for treating unstable fractures in weak bone. In this study, we assessed the radiographic and clinical results of a single surgeon's experience treating proximal humeral fractures with a locked proximal humeral plate.
