Benthic biological processes influence seabed heterogeneity and contribute to variability in geoacoustic properties. To investigate these relationships, measurements were conducted to quantify spatial variability in the upper few decimeters of sediment near the water-seabed interface within a fine-grained sediment deposit on the New England continental shelf. Severe tricuspid regurgitation (TR) is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Management of severe TR includes treatment of the underlying cause(s), medical therapy and less commonly surgical tricuspid valve repair. Newer transcatheter tricuspid valve repair devices show promise for those patients who remain symptomatic with severe TR despite such efforts.

Dihydronicotinamide rioside (NRH), the reduced form of nicotinamide riboside (NR), is a recently identified, naturally occurring precursor of arguably the most crucial cofactor for cellular function, nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+). Recent investigation suggests that NRH is more adept at increasing NAD+ stores than traditional NAD+ precursors, and such extreme NAD+ boosting via NRH supplementation induces cytotoxicity in certain cellular contexts. It has also been shown that the lack of functional BRCA protein in epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) directly impacts intracellular NAD+ levels.

Background: The superficial circumflex iliac artery perforator (SCIP) flap has several advantages in hand reconstruction. It is thin and pliable, the extensive branching of the arterial system allows for multiple components, and the donor site can be closed inconspicuously. Bile acids (BAs) are signaling molecules involved in energy expenditure, glucose homeostasis, and immune system regulation via activation of BA receptors, such as Takeda G-Protein-Coupled Receptor 5 (TGR5), Farnesoid X Receptor (FXR), and Vitamin D Receptor (VDR). The structure of BA, especially the hydroxyl group position, plays an important role in exerting its function. This is a prospective observational real-world cohort study at an academic health system on consecutive patients who underwent CTA for TAVI planning from 1/2021 to 6/2022. This represented a transition period in our health system, from not formally reporting CAD on pre-TAVI planning CTA (Group A) to routinely reporting CAD on pre-TAVI CTA (Group B; CT2TAVI protocol).

The demonization of seed oils "campaign" has become stronger over the decades. Despite the dietary guidelines provided by nutritional experts recommending the limiting of saturated fat intake and its replacement with unsaturated fat-rich food sources, some health experts ignore the dietary guidelines and the available human research evidence, suggesting the opposite. As contrarians, these individuals could easily shift public opinion so that dietary behavior moves away from intake of unsaturated fat-rich food sources (including seed oils) toward saturated fats, which is very concerning.

Erythroderma is a severe and heterogeneous inflammatory skin condition with little guidance on the approach to management in cases of unknown etiology. To guide therapeutic selection, we sought to create an immunophenotyping platform able to identify aberrant cell populations and cytokines in subtypes of erythroderma. Strontium isotope (Sr/Sr) analysis with reference to strontium isotope landscapes (Sr isoscapes) allows reconstructing mobility and migration in archaeology, ecology, and forensics. However, despite the vast potential of research involving Sr/Sr analysis particularly in Africa, Sr isoscapes remain unavailable for the largest parts of the continent. Some autoimmune diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis (RA), are preceded by a critical subclinical phase of disease activity. Proactive clinical management is hampered by a lack of biological understanding of this subclinical 'at-risk' state and the changes underlying disease development. In a cross-sectional and longitudinal multi-omics study of peripheral immunity in the autoantibody-positive at-risk for RA period, we identified systemic inflammation, proinflammatory-skewed B cells, expanded Tfh17-like cells, epigenetic bias in naive T cells, TNF+IL1B+ monocytes resembling a synovial macrophage population, and CD4 T cell transcriptional features resembling those suppressed by abatacept (CTLA4-Ig) in RA patients.

This paper reports on an original set of direct sound speed measurements collected with the acoustic coring system in the New England Mud Patch (NEMP) and shelf break area to the south. Cores collected within the NEMP show range-dependence of the mud with slower sound speed and lower attenuation on the west side. In the shelf break region, the highest sound speeds are observed between the 200- and 350-m isobaths.
