Successful Treatment of Prosthetic Joint Infection With Single-Stage Exchange and Oral Antibiotics.

Interest has grown in less invasive surgical treatment and early use of oral antibiotics in the treatment of prosthetic joint infection. We report a series of patients who were successfully treated with single-stage exchange and an all-oral course of rifampin and linezolid.

An Assessment of Nutrition Education in Endocrinology Fellowship Programs in the United States.

Objective: Counseling patients about nutrition significantly improves chronic disease outcomes. Endocrinologists are uniquely positioned to educate patients regarding nutrition. The purpose of this study was to define the current state of nutrition education in endocrinology fellowship programs in the United States and assess the needs for future nutrition training.

Endogenous bradykinin and B1-B5 during angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor-associated angioedema.

Bradykinin concentrations and the ratio of bradykinin to its stable metabolite BK1–5 (RPPGF) were significantly increased in patients presenting with angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor-associated angioedema compared to ACE inhibitor-treated controls. Cleavage of high molecular weight kininogen was not increased in patients with ACE inhibitor-associated angioedema, indicating that increased bradykinin concentrations result from decreased degradation.
