Objective: This study aimed to investigate and collate the opinions of experts regarding the triage of patients in mental health crisis presenting to EDs.

Background: The predominant cause of preventable trauma death is bleeding, and many of these patients need resuscitation with massive blood transfusion. In resource-constrained environments, early recognition of such patients can improve planning and reduce wastage of blood products. No existing decision rule is sufficiently reliable to predict those patients requiring massive blood transfusion.

A shortcut review was carried out to establish whether bite blocks should be used when a laryngeal mask airway is used in the emergency department. Eighteen papers were found using the reported searches and a further eight were found by scanning the reference lists. Ten presented the best evidence to answer the clinical question.
