Article Synopsis
- Phytoremediation is a strategy to minimize environmental toxicity, and the plant Plectranthus neochilus has previously shown potential in breaking down the herbicide 2,4-D.
- This study aimed to examine the changes in the plant's essential oil after treating 2,4-D, assess its antimicrobial properties, and evaluate the toxicity of both the plant tea and the waste produced post-decontamination.
- Results indicated that while the essential oil remains suitable as an antimicrobial agent, the plant tea is toxic, and although the waste became less toxic after treatment, the phytoremediation efficiency still needs enhancement.
