This case report describes the efficacy of selpercatinib, a selective RET inhibitor, in an unusual case of large-cell neuroendocrine pancreatic carcinoma (LCNEPAC) harboring a CCDC6::RET fusion. A 56-year-old male with a history of multiple lines of systemic therapies exhibited marked clinical amelioration shortly after initiating selpercatinib within the LOXO-RET-17001 study (ClinicalTrials.gov ID: NCT03157128, first posted: 2017-05-17).

UTE-SENCEFUL: first results for 3D high-resolution lung ventilation imaging.

Purpose: This study aimed to develop a 3D MRI technique to assess lung ventilation in free-breathing and without the administration of contrast agent.

Methods: A 3D-UTE sequence with a koosh ball trajectory was developed for a 3 Tesla scanner. An oversampled k-space was acquired, and the direct current signal from the k-space center was used as a navigator to sort the acquired data into 8 individual breathing phases.

Background: Salvage radiotherapy (SRT) is clinically established in prostate cancer (PC) patients with PSA persistence or biochemical relapse (BCR) after prior radical surgery. Background: Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of EPHX2 alter sEH activity and are associated with increased [rs41507953 (K55R)] or reduced [rs751141 (R287Q)] cardiovascular risk via modulation of fibrosis, inflammation or cardiac ion channels. This indicates an effect on development and therapy response of AF. This study tested the hypothesis that variations in the EPHX2 gene encoding human soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) are associated with atrial fibrillation (AF) and recurrence of atrial fibrillation after catheter ablation.

Distribution of P2X(3) receptor immunoreactivity in myenteric ganglia of the mouse esophagus.

Intraganglionic laminar endings (IGLEs) represent the major vagal afferent terminals throughout the gut. Electrophysiological experiments revealed a modulatory role of ATP in the IGLE-mechanotransduction process and the P2X(2)-receptor has been described in IGLEs of mouse, rat and guinea pig. Another purinoceptor, the P2X(3)-receptor, was found in IGLEs of the rat esophagus.

Technique for external beam treatment for mesothelioma.

A combined photon-electron beam treatment for diffuse pleural mesothelioma is discussed in this paper. The technique consists of parallel opposed 10 MV X rays prescribed to 4250 cGy using customized blocks to shield the lung. The pleura is then boosted with electrons to a dose of 3600 cGy.

Clinical experience with a computerized record and verify system.

To improve the quality of patient care by detecting and preventing many types of treatment mistakes, we have implemented a computerized system for recording and verifying external beam radiation treatments on our therapy machines. It inhibits the radiation beam if treatment machine settings do not agree with prescribed values to within maximum permissible deviations (tolerances). The tolerances are determined from experience and adjusted when necessary to make the system more effective and less susceptible to "false alarms.
