Introduction: The aim of this study was to examine the temperature changes on root canal and root surface in immature teeth with thin dentinal walls when irrigation solutions are preheated or intracanal heated, as well as the additional effects of passive ultrasonic irrigation (PUI) on these temperature changes.

Methods: Sixteen maxillary canine teeth were trimmed to a length of 20 mm and prepared to mimic immature teeth with an apical width of 1.3 mm by enlarging those using Gates Glidden burs.

Article Synopsis
  • Appendicitis is a common surgical emergency, but there's ongoing concern about the rate of unnecessary surgeries and uncertainty in diagnosis, prompting this study to evaluate existing risk prediction models for appendicitis.
  • The research involved 3,358 adult patients with right iliac fossa pain from 84 centers, focusing on data like clinical findings, diagnostic tests, and rates of unnecessary surgeries, using various risk scoring systems to analyze effectiveness.
  • Results showed that while the Adult Appendicitis Score performed best overall, the RIPASA score was more effective in men; both scoring systems demonstrated strong diagnostic capabilities, but female patients had higher rates of negative appendicectomy and lower surgery rates compared to males.

This study assessed stress distribution, maximum stress values and fatigue life of experimentally designed NiTi rotary files with different cross-sectional geometry and pitch length using finite element analysis (FEA). Four cross-sectional shapes (Convex triangle, S-shaped, Triple helix and Concave triangle) and two pitch lengths (2 mm and 3 mm) were tested in simulated root canals with curvatures of 30°, 45° and 60°. The FEA results indicated that convex triangle and triple helix geometries exhibited lower stress values compared to the S-shaped and concave triangle designs.

Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluated how Biodentine and NeoPutty reacted in terms of color stability and solubility when exposed to various irrigation solutions like EDTA and chlorhexidine.
  • Results showed that Biodentine changed color more than NeoPutty, especially when immersed in chlorhexidine and sodium hypochlorite, while both materials had similar solubility levels.
  • The findings suggest that NeoPutty is better for aesthetic applications, and using HEDP as an irrigant is beneficial due to its lower impact on solubility and discoloration.

Introduction: Computerized thoracic tomography (CT) imaging was extensively employed, especially in the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic. An incidental thyroid nodule (ITN) is defined as a nodule not previously detected or suspected clinically but identified via an imaging study. The present study aimed to determine the incidence of thyroid nodules incidentally detected in thoracic CTs for the suspicion of COVID-19 pneumonia.

Background: Multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2B (MEN 2B) is a rare hereditary syndrome caused mainly by Met918Thr germline RET mutation and characterized by medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), pheochromocytoma (PHEO), and typical phenotypic features. MEN 2B cases previously reported in the literature have variable clinical course.

Objectives: We aimed to discuss the characteristics of four MEN 2B cases with unusual presentations, clinical course and review the recent clinical data on MEN2B.

Objective: This study assessed the outcome of shaping the mesial roots of mandibular first molars containing band-shaped isthmuses with an isthmus floor located at the apical third with Reciproc Blue and Rotate instruments in terms of canal transportation, canal aberrations and unprepared apical canals.

Materials And Methods: Pair-matched mesial roots of mandibular first molars according to their isthmus location (distance from apical foramina) and size were constructed based on quantitative measurements (length, major and minor diameter at isthmus roof and floor) on preoperative micro-CT scanning (n = 10). The pair-matched specimens were prepared either using Reciproc Blue R25 (25.

Aim: To investigate the changes in the biomarker levels related to inflammation and tissue destruction in the periapical exudate of mandibular pre-molar teeth with asymptomatic apical periodontitis after receiving intracanal cryotherapy, to compare cryotherapy and control groups in terms of analgesic intake, interappointment, and post-operative pain and evaluate the correlation between biomarker levels and interappointment pain.

Methodology: Mandibular pre-molar teeth of 44 patients aged 18-35 years, diagnosed with asymptomatic apical periodontitis, were root canal treated in two visits (registered as NCT04798144). Baseline periapical exudate samples were obtained, and the patients were assigned to either control or intracanal cryotherapy group according to the final irrigation with distilled water either at room temperature or 2.

The current work's main objective was to determine the chemical composition of (AC) leaf extract and examine the antibacterial and cytotoxic properties of biosynthesized gold nanoparticles (AuNPs). The chemical composition of AC leaf extract was determined using LC-ESI/MS/MS to detect compounds that may be responsible for the reducing, stabilizing, and capping steps in the synthesis of nanoparticles and their biological activities. The AC-AuNPs were spherical, with a particle size lower than 100 nm and a face-centered cubic structure.
