Full thickness open tear of the tendoachilles - Functional outcomes following a stable, single stage repair.

Objective: Open injuries of the Tendoachilles present a challenge to the treating surgeon. Although, common in our setting, there is a paucity of literature regarding management of the same. The purpose of this retrospective study was to analyse the functional outcomes following debridement and primary repair of open tears of the Tendoachilles.

Fatal blunt cardiac injury: are there any subtle indicators?

A 29-year-old man had a head-on collision with an oncoming truck while riding a bike. He sustained a fracture of the left first rib, fracture of the left talar neck with ankle dislocation and fracture dislocation of the right wrist. The patient was haemodynamically stable and underwent an emergency open reduction and internal fixation of the fractured talar neck to prevent further vascular compromise of the lower limb.

Recurrent tuberculosis of greater trochanter and its bursa.

A 65-year-old female had a history of tuberculosis of the left greater trochanter 30 years ago. She underwent 6 months of chemotherapy after which the disease healed completely. Currently she presented to us with pain and swelling on the lateral aspect of left hip of 2-month duration.

Corrective osteotomy through fracture site and internal fixation with headless screws for type I (Hahn-Steinthal) capitellar malunion.

A 20-year-old woman presented 6 months after an initial injury to her left elbow with pain and restricted movements. She was diagnosed with a type I malunited (Hahn-Steinthal) type of capitellum fracture through radiographic studies. Classically, the treatment has been excision of the fragment, which carries a risk of valgus instability of the elbow and late osteoarthrosis.
