An understanding of the nature of interaction and bonding in dye aggregation process is important for such diverse problems and applications such as stacking interactions in biomolecules, staining properties, photodynamic therapy for cancer, energy transfer in lasing technology and energy transfer and electron transfer processes. In present communication we report visible absorption spectrums and their analysis for the dye methylene blue (MB) in concentration range of 1∙10 - 1∙10 M in aqueous solutions containing ionic liquids namely, 1-ethyl-3-methyl-imidazolium bromide, 1-butyl-3-methyl-imidazolium bromide and 1-hexyl-3-methyl-imidazolium bromide at 298 ± 1. In this concentration range of MB only Monomer ⇌ Dimer equilibria for the dye exist and hence the spectral characteristics in the visible range of 550-700 nm have been examined.

Densities and osmotic coefficient measurements for dilute aqueous solutions of glycine, l-leucine, and glycylglycine have been reported at 298.15 K. The partial molar volumes and activity coefficients of solute as well as solvent have been estimated using the density and osmotic coefficient data, respectively.

Data on osmotic coefficients have been obtained for a binary aqueous solution of two drugs, namely, promazine hydrochloride (PZ) and chlorpromazine hydrochloride (CPZ) using a vapor pressure osmometer at 298.15 K. The observed critical micelle concentration (cmc) agrees excellently with the available literature data.

Near infrared spectra of solution of 6.4 M HDO in D(2)O have been obtained at 15, 25, 30, and 35 degrees C. It was observed that the bands of HDO in D(2)O occur at 1416, 1525, 1556, and 1666 nm, which are in good agreement with the similar data reported earlier by Worley and Klotz.

A novel method is developed for the extraction separation of thallium(III) from salicylate medium with n-octylaniline dissolved in toluene as an extractant. The optimum conditions have been determined by making a critical study of weak acid concentration, extractant concentration, period of equilibration and effect of solvent on the equilibria. The thallium (III) from the pregnant organic phase is stripped with acetate buffer solution (pH 4.
