The aim of this study is to develop a non-targeted approach for the authentication of extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) using vibrational spectroscopy signatures combined with pattern recognition analysis. Olive oil samples ( = 151) were grouped as EVOO, virgin olive oil (VOO)/olive oil (OO), and EVOO adulterated with vegetable oils. Spectral data was collected using a compact benchtop Raman (1064 nm) and a portable ATR-IR (5-reflections) units.

Arteriovenous fistula is superior to other vascular access types in many aspects, but the effect of arteriovenous fistula on patients' psychiatric state is not well described yet. The aim of this study is to determine whether there is an association between vascular access type and depression scores.

Solitary fibrous tumours are rare mesenchymal tumours which mostly arise from pleura. Such tumours occurring in the mesocolon are exceptionally rare. A 35-year-old man was referred to the general surgery department with a painless and nonpalpable mass in the right quadrant of the abdomen, which was detected incidentally on magnetic resonance imaging.

Methods: The data of age, duration of menopause, height, weight, lipid profile, bone mineral density (BMD) value, and history of oral contraceptive use of 407 postmenopausal women who had not been menstruating for at least 12 months, were between the ages 45 and 80, and presented at the obstetrics and gynecology polyclinic of Kartal Dr. Lutfi Kirdar Tr aining and Research Hospital were reviewed.
Objective: To determine the maternal serum N-Terminal proBNP levels in predicting development of preeclampsia.
Method: Sixty-eight patients were included in the study. The study group consisted of patients with the finding of diastolic notch with abnormal pulsatility index (PI) between 21-24 weeks gestation and the control group consisted of patients without diastolic notch and normal PI.
Aim: In this study we examined the effect of oral application of garlic form [garlic oil (GO)] on rats after renal ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury.
Materials And Methods: Forty male Wistar albino rats were divided into four groups: control, sham-operated, I/R, and I/R+GO. GO was diluted in water and administered by oral intubation three times each week for 6 weeks.
Introduction: We tried to prove the effectiveness of trimetazidine (TMZ) on testicular torsion-detorsion injury.
Materials And Methods: 15 male rats were equally divided into three groups: group 1 was the sham-operated control group; group 2 had 2 h of unilateral testicular ischemia followed by 3 days of reperfusion, and group 3 had 2 h of unilateral testicular ischemia followed by 3 days of oral TMZ treatment (5 mg/kg, bid) during reperfusion. In the removed testicles, tissue reduced glutathione (GSH), glutathione reductase (GR), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), malondialdehyde (MDA) levels and pathological modified Johnson scores (MJS) were evaluated.
The aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) is a ligand-dependent transcription factor that can be activated by a structurally diverse range of synthetic and natural chemicals, and it mediates the toxic and biological effects of environmental contaminants such as 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD). The spectrum of chemicals that bind to and activate the AhR signal transduction pathway and the identity of materials containing AhR active chemicals is only now being defined. Utilizing AhR-dependent gel retardation and reporter gene bioassays, the screening of extracts of 22 dietary herbal supplements and 21 food products (vegetables and fruits) was performed to identify those containing AhR agonists.

The aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) is a ligand-dependent transcription factor that mediates many of the biological and toxicological actions of a diverse range of chemicals, including the environmental contaminant 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD, dioxin). Although no endogenous physiological ligand for the AhR has yet been described, numerous studies support the existence of such a ligand(s). Here we have examined the ability of prostaglandins and related chemicals to activate the AhR signaling system.
