Imidacloprid, a neonicotinoid insecticide, is a major component of hemlock woolly adelgid (HWA) [ (Annand)] management programs that are critical to protecting forest health in the eastern United States. However, the impact of imidacloprid soil applications in forests on some aquatic macroinvertebrate species by leaching into aquatic systems is uncertain. The time for residues from imidacloprid soil applications to migrate from treated hemlocks to nearby streams and the concentrations at which imidacloprid may occur after initial migration is unknown.

Effect of homogenisation speed and centrifugation on particle size analysis of beef and the relationship with shear force.

This study aimed to investigate the effect of homogenisation speed and centrifugation on particle size (PS) evaluation, and examine its relationship with shear force. Beef Longissimus lumborum (LL) muscle portions were randomly assigned to different ageing periods (0, 3 or 5 weeks), and tested for PS and shear force. The PS analysis was conducted at different homogenisation speeds (11,000, 16,000 and 19,000 rpm) with and without a centrifugation step prior to measurement.

The Benefits of Implementing an Early Mobility Protocol in Postoperative Neurosurgical Spine Patients.

Unlabelled: : Background: Despite the known benefits of early postsurgical mobility, there are no clear recommendations on early mobility among uncomplicated postoperative neurosurgical spine patients.

Purpose: The purpose of this quality improvement initiative was to establish an NP-led early mobility protocol to reduce uncomplicated postsurgical spine patients' length of stay (LOS) in the hospital and eliminate the variability of postsurgical care. A secondary objective was to educate and empower nursing staff to initiate the early mobility protocol independently and incorporate it in their practice to improve patient care.

A strengths-based data capture model: mining data-driven and person-centered health assets.

With health care policy directives advancing value-based care, risk assessments and management have permeated health care discourse. The conventional problem-based infrastructure defines what data are employed to build this discourse and how it unfolds. Such a health care model tends to bias data for risk assessment and risk management toward problems and does not capture data about health assets or strengths.

Nucleophilic Opening of Donor-Acceptor Cyclopropanes with Indoles via Hydrogen Bond Activation with 1,1,1,3,3,3-Hexafluoroisopropanol.

The treatment of donor-acceptor cyclopropanes with the a strong hydrogen bond donor, HFIP, activated the cyclopropanes (via presumed hydrogen bonding) toward homo-Michael additions with indoles as the nucleophiles. This reaction proceeded without the need for high pressure or catalysis.

Discovery of Four Novel Circular Single-Stranded DNA Viruses in Fungus-Farming Termites.

Here, we describe four novel circular single-stranded DNA viruses discovered in fungus-farming termites ( sp.). The viruses, named termite-associated circular virus 1 (TaCV-1) through TaCV-4, are most similar to members of the family and were widely detected in African termite mounds.

Stereotactic Radiosurgery for Trigeminal Neuralgia in Patients With Multiple Sclerosis: A Multicenter Study.

An international consensus clinical practice statement issued in 2011 ranked psychogenic nonepileptic seizures (PNES) among the top three neuropsychiatric problems. An ILAE PNES Task Force was founded and initially charged with summarizing the current state of the art in terms of diagnosis and treatment, resulting in two publications. The first described different levels of diagnostic certainty.

Sorting nexin 27 (SNX27) regulates the trafficking and activity of the glutamine transporter ASCT2.

Alanine-, serine-, cysteine-preferring transporter 2 (ASCT2, SLC1A5) is responsible for the uptake of glutamine into cells, a major source of cellular energy and a key regulator of mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) activation. Furthermore, ASCT2 expression has been reported in several human cancers, making it a potential target for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. Here we identify ASCT2 as a membrane-trafficked cargo molecule, sorted through a direct interaction with the PDZ domain of sorting nexin 27 (SNX27).

Pediatric blunt cerebrovascular injury: the McGovern screening score.

OBJECTIVE The objective of this study was to assess the incidence, diagnosis, and treatment of pediatric blunt cerebrovascular injury (BCVI) at a busy Level 1 trauma center and to develop a tool for accurately predicting pediatric BCVI and the need for diagnostic testing. METHODS This is a retrospective cohort study of a prospectively collected database of pediatric patients who had sustained blunt trauma (patient age range 0-15 years) and were treated at a Level 1 trauma center between 2005 and 2015. Digital subtraction angiography, MR angiography, or CT angiography was used to confirm BCVI.

School achievement as a predictor of depression and self-harm in adolescence: linked education and health record study.

Background: Mental disorders in children and adolescents have an impact on educational attainment. Aims To examine the temporal association between attainment in education and subsequent diagnosis of depression or self-harm in the teenage years.

Method: General practitioner, hospital and education records of young people in Wales between 1999 and 2014 were linked and analysed using Cox regression.

Einstein@Home discovers a radio-quiet gamma-ray millisecond pulsar.

Millisecond pulsars (MSPs) are old neutron stars that spin hundreds of times per second and appear to pulsate as their emission beams cross our line of sight. To date, radio pulsations have been detected from all rotation-powered MSPs. In an attempt to discover radio-quiet gamma-ray MSPs, we used the aggregated power from the computers of tens of thousands of volunteers participating in the Einstein@Home distributed computing project to search for pulsations from unidentified gamma-ray sources in Fermi Large Area Telescope data.

Characteristics of Children Prescribed Antipsychotics: Analysis of Routinely Collected Data.

Background: Paediatric incontinence has traditionally been managed through a discipline-specific approach by doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and psychologists. We evaluated a workshop aiming to increase health professionals' knowledge, confidence and willingness to involve other health professionals when managing paediatric incontinence.

Methods: Our 1-day workshop focused on paediatric bedwetting, daytime incontinence, faecal incontinence and neurogenic bladder.

A novel mutation in LAMC3 associated with generalized polymicrogyria of the cortex and epilepsy.

Occipital cortical malformation is a rare neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by pachygyria and polymicrogyria of the occipital lobes as well as global developmental delays and seizures. This condition is due to biallelic, loss-of-function mutations in LAMC3 and has been reported in four unrelated families to date. We report an individual with global delays, seizures, and polymicrogyria that extends beyond the occipital lobes and includes the frontal, parietal, temporal, and occipital lobes.

The influences and neural correlates of past and present during gambling in humans.

During financial decision-making tasks, humans often make "rational" decisions, where they maximize expected reward. However, this rationality may compete with a bias that reflects past outcomes. That is, if one just lost money or won money, this may impact future decisions.

Phase-contrast cerebrospinal fluid flow magnetic resonance imaging in qualitative evaluation of patency of CSF flow pathways prior to infusion of chemotherapeutic and other agents into the fourth ventricle.

Purpose: Nuclear medicine studies have previously been utilized to assess for blockage of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) flow prior to intraventricular chemotherapy infusions. To assess CSF flow without nuclear medicine studies, we obtained cine phase-contrast MRI sequences that assess CSF flow from the fourth ventricle down to the sacrum.

Methods: In three clinical trials, 18 patients with recurrent malignant posterior fossa tumors underwent implantation of a ventricular access device (VAD) into the fourth ventricle, either with or without simultaneous tumor resection.
