Travoprost (Travatan(®)), a prostaglandin ophthalmic solution, is a second-line therapy for open-angle glaucoma, according to the Clinical Practice Guideline of the American Optometric Association. Recently, travoprost has been used as a first-line therapy in many patients because of its effectiveness and a once-daily dosing. It lowers the intraocular pressure by enhancing the aqueous humor outflow.

Case Summary: A 56-year-old white male had been receiving chronic warfarin therapy for 11 years after mechanical heart valve replacement. He was admitted to the hospital with a diagnosis of upper gastrointestinal bleeding.
The American Academy of Pediatrics recently removed nicotine from the category of drugs contraindicated during breastfeeding. Little evidence demonstrates that infants exposed to nicotine through breastfeeding experience increased health risks beyond the airborne risks associated with passive smoking. The purpose of this longitudinal, five-week, quasi-experimental pilot study was to determine whether "smoking hygiene," an educational intervention, reduces the frequency of respiratory symptoms experienced by infants whose mothers both smoke and breastfeed.
