Use of psychedelic treatments in psychiatric clinical practice: an EPA policy paper.

Background: Recent years show an exponential increased interest ("renaissance") in the use of psychedelics for the treatment of mental disorders and broader. Some of these treatments, such as psilocybin for depression, are in the process of formal regulation by regulatory bodies in the US (FDA) and Europe (EMA), and as such on the brink of real-world implementation. In the slipstream of these developments increasing commercial initiatives are taking shape.

Community-Based Psychiatric Care Provision in Hungary: Trends and Steps towards Progress.

Psychiatric care has undergone several cycles of profound changes in the past centuries all over the world. In Hungary, community-based outpatient care has been showing signs of evolution since the 1950s. Initially, the system centered on assertive outreach and family involvement, especially for those with serious mental health problems.

Outcomes of 25-Gauge Pars Plana Vitrectomy in the Treatment of Idiopathic Macular Hole.

Aim: The main aim of this study is to evaluate the anatomical and functional results of pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) with peeling of the internal limiting membrane (ILM), membrane blue staining and subsequent expansile gas tamponade (perfluoropropane) in the treatment of idiopathic macular hole (IMH).

Material And Methods: The retrospective analysis consisted of 100 eyes of a total of 100 patients (61 women and 39 men) with IMH, operated on at the Department of Ophthalmology of the Slovak Medical University and University Hospital Bratislava from 1 January 2021 to 1 January 2024, using 25-gauge PPV with ILM peeling and perfluoropropane tamponade (C3F8) of 15% concentration. After surgery, the patients were required to remain in a face-down position for at least one week.

Treatment Regimens of Neovascular Form of Age-Related Macular Degeneration. A Review.

This article presents an overview of treatment regimens of drugs containing antivascular endothelial growth factor for the treatment of neovascular form of age-related macular degeneration. Currently, drugs containing antivascular endothelial growth factor are the only effective treatment for this chronic and progressive disease. The treatment regimens for this disease in the last two decades have seen a shift from a simple endeavor to stabilize the disease to achieving maximum improvement of visual acuity and its maintenance, with improvement of the patient's quality of life and a minimal treatment burden on patients and their families.

Improvement of Visual Field Defects after Neuroembolization Treatment of Intracranial Aneurysms. Case Reports.

Purpose: Intracranial aneurysms and their hemorrhagic and thromboembolic complications represent a serious nosological unit that significantly endangers those afflicted. They are mostly asymptomatic until rupture occurs. In two case reports, we present our observations of young patients with impaired vision and headaches, in whom we found the presence of intracranial aneurysms.

Surgical outcomes of trabeculectomy augmented with sub-Tenon injected mitomycin C.

Background: Recently, trabeculectomy with mitomycin C (MMC) where MMC is applied by injection into the Tenon layer has attracted close attention. However, the data on efficacy and safety of this technique is still limited and more clinical studies are needed. Therefore, the work is aimed at comprehensive evaluation of the effectiveness of trabeculectomy using MMC applied by intra-Tenon injection.

ACUTE KERATOUVEITIS WITH CORNEAL GRAFT MELTING AS A LATE COMPLICATION OF MILD CHEMICAL BURN POTENTIALLY ASSOCIATED WITH COVID-19 INFECTION: A CASE REPORT.

The main goal of the initial treatment is prompt and copious irrigation to neutralize and eliminate the chemical, followed by various therapeutic options (conservative and surgical) according to the individual patient's postinjury findings.

Purpose: In this case report, we describe the course and treatment of a patient with chemical alkali burns of both eyes.

The Lived Experiences of Family Members and Carers of People with Psychosis: A Bottom-Up Review Co-Written by Experts by Experience and Academics.

Informal caregivers of individuals affected by psychotic disorder can play a key role in the recovery process. However, little research has been conducted on the lived experiences of carers and family members. We conducted a bottom-up (from lived experience to theory) review of first-person accounts, co-written between academics and experts by experience, to identify key experiential themes.

The lived experience of psychosis: a bottom-up review co-written by experts by experience and academics.

Psychosis is the most ineffable experience of mental disorder. We provide here the first co-written bottom-up review of the lived experience of psychosis, whereby experts by experience primarily selected the subjective themes, that were subsequently enriched by phenomenologically-informed perspectives. First-person accounts within and outside the medical field were screened and discussed in collaborative workshops involving numerous individuals with lived experience of psychosis as well as family members and carers, representing a global network of organizations.

Postural cueing increases multifidus activation during stabilization exercise in participants with chronic and recurrent low back pain: An electromyographic study.

Persons with low back pain (LBP) have demonstrated altered morphology and function of the deep multifidus (DM). This study examined the effects of postural cueing for increased lumbar lordosis on DM and longissimus thoracis (LT) activation during lumbar stabilization exercises (LSE) performed by persons with LBP. Nine adults with a history of chronic or recurrent LBP were recruited.

Bond strength of 4-META acrylic resin denture base to cobalt chromium alloy.

This study was designed to compare the bond strength of a conventional poly(methyl methacrylate) acrylic resin denture base (Lucitone 199) with a recently developed acrylic resin base containing 4-META (Meta-Dent) to CoCr metal alloy by using various designs representative of clinical situations. The mechanical bond strength of Lucitone 199 resin was compared with the chemical and combination chemical and mechanical bond strength of Meta-Dent resin. The following conclusions may be extrapolated from the results.
