Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), a transdifferentiation program whereby epithelial cells acquire mesenchymal phenotype, is essential during embryonic development. EMT has also been implicated in cancer progression by conferring migratory and metastatic potential, as well as cell plasticity and stem cell like traits, to cancer cells. Metaplastic breast carcinoma (MBC) is a rare aggressive type of breast cancer characterized by the presence of heterologous elements, typically by the existence of epithelial and mesenchymal components.

Their superior efficacy compared to previous therapeutic options, such as chemotherapy, has resulted in their use in treating devastating malignancies, such as melanoma or unresectable/metastatic basal cell and squamous cell carcinoma. Skin toxicity is a critical safety consideration, among other adverse reactions, that can occur under treatment with these agents.

Postoperative intra-abdominal abscess (PIAA) complicates 3% to 25% of appendectomies and the risk is highest following complicated appendicitis. However, the risk for intra-abdominal abscess formation after appendectomy is still a matter of debate.

Purpose: The purpose of the present study was to employ deep learning (DL) algorithms to differentiate patterns of pretreatment distribution of Tc-macroaggregated albumin on SPECT/CT and post-treatment distribution of Y microspheres on PET/CT and to accurately predict how the Y-microspheres will be distributed in the liver tissue by radioembolization therapy.
A 34-year-old woman presented due to progressive painful swelling around the nail of the right index finger. Onychectomy and drainage of the abscess of the affected finger were performed as the inflammation was progressive despite the previous antibiotic therapy. The microbiological culture revealed a ciprofloxacin-susceptible Citrobacter braakii.
