We report on a patient with an unusual, slowly enlarging hematoma of the left buttock. A 62-year-old man presented with a 6-year history of an enlarging mass of the left buttock. He had first noted the mass 6 years earlier and had had sciatica of the left lower limb for the last 2 months.

Lipoma of the finger is rare, and there have been few case reports of lipoma causing bone erosion in the finger. We report on a patient with a long-standing lipoma that caused deep erosion of the distal phalanx of the index finger. A 38-year-old man presented with a painful mass of the left index finger.

The purpose of this study was to clarify clinical and radiographic features of bone changes associated with soft-tissue tumors of the hand. We reviewed clinical records and radiographs of 115 patients who had undergone operations for soft-tissue tumors or tumorous conditions of the hand. Bone changes were detected in the radiographs of 21 of the 115 patients.

Recently, intravenous therapy with pamidronate has been reported to be effective for treating fibrous dysplasia. However, very little is known about the efficacy of oral alendronate for fibrous dysplasia. We describe a patient with polyostotic fibrous dysplasia, who had complained of persistent pain for more than 20 years, that was treated with oral alendronate alone.
