Molecular design of dual-fluorescent probes requires precise adjustment of the energy levels of two excited states and the energy barrier between them. While the hybridized local and charge-transfer (HLCT) state has been recently focused as an important excited state for high emission efficiency with a tunable energy level, a dual emission involving the HLCT state has been only achieved with the excited-state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) system. Here, a series of dual-fluorescent molecules involving an HLCT excited state with the excited-state conjugation enhancement (ESCE) motif is presented as the first case.

Herein, we report a dual ratiometric fluorescence (FL) analysis for monitoring both mechanical polymer chain stretching and strain-induced crystallization (SIC) of polymers. SIC has recently attracted renewed attention as an effective mechanism for improving the mechanical properties of polymers.

Although IL-23 is known to be involved in developing γδT17 cells, the roles of other cytokines, such as IL-21, which is involved in developing Th17 cells like IL-23, in the development, maintenance, and pathophysiology of γδT17 cells remain unknown. Here, we show that IL-21 is dispensable for the fetal thymic development of nγδT17 cells but is required for the peripheral maintenance of Vγ4nγδT17 cells.

We performed DNA microarray analyses of CD4+ T cells in patients with RA before and after MTX treatment and found that TP63 was the most significantly downregulated gene after MTX treatment. TAp63, an isoform of TP63, was highly expressed in human IL-17-producing Th (Th17) cells and was suppressed by MTX in vitro.

T follicular regulatory (Tfr) cells, a subset of CD4 Foxp3 regulatory T (Treg) cells, locate to the lymphoid follicle and germinal center (GC) and regulate antibody responses. Tfr cells express the functional molecules of follicular helper T (Tfh) cells, including CXCR5 and Bcl6. CD25 mature Tfr cells differentiate from CD25 Treg cells through CD25 immature Tfr cells.

The SMS study was realized by structural improvement of a previously reported flapping molecule by nitrogen substitution, leading to increased brightness (22 times) of the probe. In a polystyrene thin film at the temperature of 5 K above the glass transition, the spectra of a single N-FLAP molecule undergo frequent jumps between short- and long-wavelength forms, the latter one indicating planarization of the molecule in the excited state.

Although CD4 T cells influence the regulation of Ly6C macrophages after MI, the mechanism remains largely unknown. Based on the hypothesis that some molecule(s) secreted by CD4 T cells act on Ly6C macrophages, we searched for candidate molecules by focusing on cytokine receptors expressed on Ly6C macrophages.

Methods: We enrolled 100 patients with either RA or SpA and performed ultrasound to evaluate power Doppler signals for synovitis (52 joint regions), tenosynovitis (20 tendons), and enthesitis (44 sites). We performed clustering analysis using unsupervised random forest based on the multi-axis ultrasound information and classified the patients into groups.
We report a case of a 61-year-old man with granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) complicated with refractory optic neuritis and maxillary osteomyelitis. He had been treated with prednisolone (PSL) as cryptogenic organizing pneumonia in the respiratory department for 2 years. Afterward, he complained tenderness of paranasal sinuses and rapidly progressive visual loss of the left eye.

Recently, the roles of Sox (SRY-related high-mobility-group (HMG)-box) family members in various immune responses have been investigated. However, the roles of Sox12, a member of the SoxC group, in Th2 cell differentiation and allergic airway inflammation, remain unknown.
