Objective: To investigate whether BIRADS MRI characteristics before or during neoadjuvant endocrine therapy (NET) are associated with the preoperative endocrine prognostic index (PEPI) in ER+/HER2- breast cancer patients.
Methods: This retrospective observational cohort study included 35 ER+/HER2- patients with 38 tumors (3 bilateral cases) treated with NET. The pre- and midtreatment (after 3 months) MRIs were evaluated by two breast radiologists for BIRADS imaging characteristics, shrinkage pattern, and radiologic response.
Phosphorus MRS offers a non-invasive tool for monitoring cell energy and phospholipid metabolism and can be of additional value in diagnosing cancer and monitoring cancer therapy. In this study, we determined the transverse relaxation times of a number of phosphorous metabolites in a group of breast cancer patients by adiabatic multi-echo spectroscopic imaging at 7 T. The transverse relaxation times of phosphoethanolamine, phosphocholine, inorganic phosphate (P ), glycerophosphocholine and glycerophosphatidylcholine were 184 ± 8 ms, 203 ± 17 ms, 87 ± 8 ms, 240 ± 56 ms and 20 ± 10 ms, respectively.

Objectives: To describe and to correlate tumor characteristics on multiparametric 7 tesla (T) breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with prognostic characteristics from postoperative histopathology in patients with breast cancer.
Materials And Methods: Institutional review board approval and written informed consent of 15 women (46-70 years) with 17 malignant lesions were obtained. In this prospective study (March 2013 to March 2014), women were preoperatively scanned using dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI, diffusion-weighted imaging, and 31-phosphorus spectroscopy (¹³P-MRS).
Purpose: To retrospectively investigate whether parenchymal enhancement in dynamic contrast material-enhanced magnetic resonance (MR) imaging of the contralateral breast in patients with unilateral invasive breast cancer is associated with therapy outcome.
Materials And Methods: After obtaining approval of the institutional review board and patients' written informed consent, 531 women with unilateral invasive breast cancer underwent dynamic contrast-enhanced MR imaging between 2000 and 2008. The contralateral parenchyma was segmented automatically, in which the mean of the top 10% late enhancement was calculated.
The heterogeneous nature of breast cancer is represented by three breast cancer subtypes associated with different patient outcome. However, within subtypes, variations still exist. Additional stratification is necessary for more individualized therapy.

Purpose: In breast cancer therapy, the indication for systemic therapy is typically based on prognostic markers from the surgical excision specimen. If such is unavailable, for instance prior to tumor ablation therapy, the indication for adjuvant systemic therapy may be assessed from pretreatment biopsies. The effect of differences in tumor characteristics between biopsy and excision specimen on agreement in indication for systemic therapy is, however, largely unknown.

Purpose: To investigate the value of response monitoring in both the primary tumour and axillary nodes on sequential PET/CT scans during neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) for predicting complete pathological response (pCR), taking the breast cancer subtype into account.
Methods: In 107 consecutive patients 290 PET/CT scans were performed at baseline (PET/CT1, 107 patients), after 2 - 3 weeks of chemotherapy (PET/CT2, 85 patients), and after 6 - 8 weeks (PET/CT3, 98 patients). The relative changes in SUVmax (from baseline) of the tumour and the lymph nodes and in both combined (after logistic regression), and the changes in the highest SUVmax between scans (either tumour or lymph node) were determined and their associations with pCR of the tumour and lymph nodes after completion of NAC were assessed using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis.

Objectives: Core biopsy underestimates invasion in more than 20% of patients with preoperatively diagnosed ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) without evidence of invasion (pure DCIS). The aim of the current study was to evaluate the efficacy of preoperative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to discriminate between patients with DCIS who are at high risk of invasive breast cancer and patients at low risk.
Methods: One hundred and twenty-five patients, preoperatively diagnosed with pure DCIS (128 lesions; 3 bilateral) by core-needle biopsy, were prospectively included.
Preoperative localization is important to optimize the surgical treatment of breast lesions, especially in nonpalpable lesions.
