- The study compared the effectiveness of two irrigation techniques—static and passive ultrasonic instrumentation (PUI)—in removing bacterial biofilm from root canals.
- Forty extracted maxillary central incisors were used, with each tooth split into two for the two different irrigation methods while utilizing 2.5% sodium hypochlorite as the irrigant.
- Results indicated that PUI was more effective at reducing residual collagen in the root canals compared to static irrigation, especially in the apical region, though neither method could completely eliminate the biofilm.
