Background: Emergency departments have high levels of uncertainty, long wait times, resource shortages, overcrowding and a constantly changing environment. Patient experience and patient safety are directly linked, yet levels of patient experience are stagnant. To improve emergency nursing care and patient experience, an emergency nursing framework HIRAID® (History including Infection risk, Red flags, Assessment, Interventions, Diagnostics, communication, and reassessment) was implemented in 29 Australian emergency departments.

Characterizing biomarkers of ageing in Singaporeans: the ABIOS observational study protocol.

Ageing is the primary driver of age-associated chronic diseases and conditions. Asian populations have traditionally been underrepresented in studies understanding age-related diseases. Thus, the Ageing BIOmarker Study in Singaporeans (ABIOS) aims to characterise biomarkers of ageing in Singaporeans, exploring associations between molecular, physiological, and digital biomarkers of ageing.

Multi-faceted examination of a deepwater seamount reveals ecological patterns among coral and sponge communities in the equatorial Pacific.

Spatial changes in benthic community structure have been observed across natural gradients in deep-sea ecosystems, but these patterns remain under-sampled on seamounts. Here, we identify the spatial composition and distribution of coral and sponge taxa on four sides of a single central Pacific equatorial "model" seamount within the US EEZ surrounding the Howland and Baker unit of the Pacific Islands Heritage Marine National Monument. This seamount rises from 5,000 + m to mesophotic depths of 196 m, and is influenced by the Equatorial Undercurrent.

Differential impacts of strabismic and anisometropic amblyopia on the mesoscale functional organization of the human visual cortex.

We employed high-resolution fMRI to distinguish the impacts of anisometropia and strabismus amblyopia on the evoked ocular dominance (OD) response. Sixteen amblyopic participants (8 females) plus 8 individuals with normal vision (1 female), participated in this study for whom, we measured the difference between the response to stimulation of the two eyes, across areas V1-V4.In controls, the evoked OD response formed the expected striped pattern within V1.

The Impact of HIRAID Implementation on the Accuracy of Emergency Nurse Documentation in Australian Rural Emergency Departments: A Multicenter Quasi-Experimental Study.

Introduction: Documentation templates supported the implementation of HIRAID, a validated framework that supports nurses in assessing and managing patients in emergency departments in rural Australia using a strategy informed by behavior change theory. The study aimed to determine whether the implementation of HIRAID improved the accuracy of nurses' documentation across a large rural health district.

Methods: A Quasi-experimental pre-post study design was conducted across 10 rural emergency departments between November 2020 and November 2021, with HIRAID implemented in February 2021.

Breast-conserving surgery accompanied by adjuvant radiotherapy is the standard of care for patients with early-stage breast cancer. Sustained virologic suppression of multidrug-resistant HIV in an individual treated with anti-CD4 domain 1 antibody and lenacapavir.

The clinical management of people with multidrug-resistant (MDR) human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) remains challenging despite continued development of antiretroviral agents. A 58-year-old male individual with MDR HIV and Kaposi sarcoma (KS) was treated with a new antiretroviral regimen consisting of anti-CD4 domain 1 antibody UB-421 and capsid inhibitor lenacapavir. The individual experienced delayed but sustained suppression of plasma viremia and a substantial increase in the CD4 T cell count.

Psoriatic Arthritis Priority Setting Partnership: patient- and clinician-informed considerations for future UK health service delivery.

Objectives: Little is known about the ideal service delivery model and shortcomings in patient experiences in the NHS for patients with Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA). To identify unmet needs perceived within the current health service delivery model for PsA from the UK Psoriatic Arthritis Priority Setting Partnership (PsA PSP).

Methods: An online survey was conducted in 2020 and distributed to people with PsA, their carers and clinicians to identify research priorities in PsA.

Background: Diaphorina citri is an insect vector of "Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus" (CLas), the gram-negative bacterial pathogen associated with citrus greening disease. Imaging of prostate micro-architecture using three-dimensional wide-field optical coherence tomography.

Prostate cancer is a global health issue that requires new diagnostic methods to provide accurate and precise visualization of prostate tissue on the micro-scale. Such methods have the potential to improve nerve-sparing surgery and to provide image guidance during prostate biopsy. In this feasibility study, we assess the potential of three-dimensional wide-field optical coherence tomography (OCT), covering a volumetric imaging field-of-view up to 46 × 46 × 1 mm, to visualize micro-architecture in 18 freshly excised human prostate specimens.

Decoding aging clocks: New insights from metabolomics.

Chronological age is a crucial risk factor for diseases and disabilities among older adults. However, individuals of the same chronological age often exhibit divergent biological aging states, resulting in distinct individual risk profiles. Chronological age estimators based on omics data and machine learning techniques, known as aging clocks, provide a valuable framework for interpreting molecular-level biological aging.

Validation requirements for AI-based intervention-evaluation in aging and longevity research and practice.

The field of aging and longevity research is overwhelmed by vast amounts of data, calling for the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), including Large Language Models (LLMs), for the evaluation of geroprotective interventions. Such evaluations should be correct, useful, comprehensive, explainable, and they should consider causality, interdisciplinarity, adherence to standards, longitudinal data and known aging biology. In particular, comprehensive analyses should go beyond comparing data based on canonical biomedical databases, suggesting the use of AI to interpret changes in biomarkers and outcomes.

Muscle-Fiber Typology Is Associated With Sprint-Cycling Characteristics in World-Class and Elite Track Cyclists.

Purpose: Identifying the determinants of performance is fundamental to talent identification and individualizing training prescription. Consequently, the aim of this study was to determine whether estimated muscle typology is associated with the key mechanical characteristics of track sprint cycling.

Methods: Sixteen world-class and elite track cyclists (n = 7 female) completed a laboratory session wherein torque-cadence and power-cadence profiles were constructed to determine maximal power output (Pmax), optimal cadence (Fopt), and maximal cadence (Fmax), and fatigue rate per pedal stroke was determined during a 15-second maximal sprint at Fopt.
