De novo hair follicle (HF) regeneration, achieved through the replenishment of the dermal papilla (DP), acknowledged as the principal orchestrator of the hair growth cycle, is emerging as a prospective therapeutic intervention for alopecia. Nonetheless, multiple attempts have shown that these cells lose key inductive properties when cultured in a two-dimensional (2D) monolayer, leading to precocious senescence engendered by oxidative stress and inflammatory processes. Consequently, the three-dimensional (3D) spheroid technique is presently widely employed for DP cell culture.

In recent years, there has been significant attention on natural compounds with potent anti-inflammatory effects due to their potential in mitigating neuroinflammation and neuroplasticity.
Methods: In the present study, we aimed to evaluate the neuroprotective effects of oleacein (OC), a rare secoiridoid derivative found in extra virgin olive oil.
Olive leaf contains plenty of phenolic compounds, among which oleuropein (OP) is the main component and belongs to the group of secoiridoids. Additionally, phenolic compounds such as oleocanthal (OL) and oleacein (OC), which share a structural similarity with OP and two aldehyde groups, are also present in olive leaves. These compounds have been studied for several health benefits, such as anti-cancer and antioxidant effects.

Emulsions prepared by HPH were highly unstable due to the poor surface-active character of γ-oryzanol as identified by the PDM. In contrast, solid dispersions fabricated by SDM had comparable particle size to those prepared using Tween 80 (T80) as surfactant, and were stable up to 30 days of storage at 4 °C.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFOleacein (OLE), a rare natural compound found in unfiltered extra virgin olive oil, has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and anti-obesity properties. However, little is known regarding the mechanisms by which OLE influences metabolic processes linked to disease targets, particularly in the context of lipid metabolism. In the present study, we conducted whole-genome DNA microarray analyses in adipocytes differentiated from human adipose-derived stem cells (hASCs) and diabetic hASCs (d-hASCs) to examine the effects of OLE on modulating metabolic pathways.

Specifically, we succeeded in the direct synthesis of oleacein, a rare component of extra-virgin olive oil, from oleuropein, which is abundant in olive leaves. Whereas the conventional total synthesis of oleacein from lyxose requires more than 10 steps, these solid acid catalysts enabled the one-step synthesis of oleacein from oleuropein.

We report that jervine, a jerveratrum-type steroidal alkaloid isolated from Veratrum californicum, has antifungal activity. Phenotypic comparisons of cell wall mutants, K1 killer toxin susceptibility testing, and quantification of cell wall components revealed that β-1,6-glucan biosynthesis was significantly inhibited by jervine.

In this meta-analysis, anthocyanins in test foods of 18 selected RCTs were categorized into three types: cyanidin-, delphinidin-, and malvidin-based. Delphinidin-based anthocyanins demonstrated significant effects on triglycerides (mean difference (MD): -0.

It is well known that transforming growth factor β (TGFβ) signaling pathways play a major role in the proliferation of cardiac hypertrophy and fibrosis, which is mainly stimulated by angiotensin II (AgII). This study aimed to investigate the cardioprotective potential of isorhamnetin (ISO) in human amniotic epithelial stem cells (hAESCs) through global gene expression analysis and to confirm its beneficial effects on cardiac hypertrophy and fibrosis in the AgII-induced model.
