Aim: Chemotherapy-induced alopecia (CIA) is the most common side effect of systemic treatment in breast cancer patients. Scalp cooling gained worldwide acceptance in preventing or mitigating CIA in patients undergoing chemotherapy. The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the Paxman scalp cooling system (PSCS) in Indian breast cancer patients.

Purpose: Targeted delivery of drugs at appropriate concentrations to ocular tissues is required to avoid wastage. Hence, advanced systems that maximize the release of poorly soluble drugs and deliver them at ocular sites must be designed.

Methods: In this study, Soluplus (polyvinyl caprolactam-polyvinyl acetate-polyethylene glycol-graft copolymer) was selected as a solubilizer as well as film former for preparing ocular inserts and polyethylene glycol 400 (PEG-400) as a plasticizer.

In 1942, Stout and Murray first used the term hemangiopericytoma to describe a tumor which is distinguished histologically from other types of vascular neoplasm characterized by proliferation of pericytes. It is a rare neoplasm that was originally described as a vascular tumor derived from the pericytes. They account for 2%-3% of all soft tissue sarcomas in humans and they occur mainly in the musculoskeletal system.

Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is the most common malignancy in pediatric patients, and it is characterized by the presence of malignant lymphoblasts within the bone marrow and peripheral blood. The treatment of ALL involves induction, consolidation, reinduction, and maintenance therapy. Consolidation therapy in ALL-Berlin-Frankfurt-Münster 90 protocol involves the use of high-dose methotrexate (HDMTX, 5 g/m) over 24 h as continuous infusion.

Multiple myeloma (MM) is a monoclonal gammopathy, also known as the malignant proliferation of plasma cells, presenting with typical complications such as hypercalcemia, osteolytic bone lesions, anemia, renal insufficiency, and frequent infections. Central nervous system (CNS) involvement in MM in the form of parenchymal involvement is very uncommon and has been reported only in 1% of patients. CNS involvement as an initial presentation is very rare and has poor prognosis.

Background: Capillary leak syndrome (CLS) has been previously observed as a complication of Daboia russelii bite but not clearly defined or studied in length. This observational case-control study evaluates the mortality along with associated clinical and laboratory features.

Methods: Twenty-five patients who developed CLS were compared with 25 patients without CLS following Daboia russelii (Russell's viper) bite.

Bosentan is a dual endothelin receptor antagonist used in the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). But the solubility and bioavailability of this drug are poor, which has restricted the design and development of dosage forms for efficient and successful therapy. The present study was carried out to develop nanocomposites using an amphiphilic graft co-polymer (Soluplus®) as a carrier to enhance the solubility and bioavailability of bosentan.

Central nervous system (CNS) toxicity has been reported in approximately 10%-30% of patients receiving intravenous infusions of ifosfamide. Encephalopathy is a rare but serious CNS adverse reaction in these patients, and although usually transient and reversible, may cause persistent neurological dysfunction or death. Clinical features range from fatigue and confusion to coma and death.

The present study involved the design and development of oral bioadhesive pellets of eplerenone. A solid dispersion of eplerenone was developed with a hydrophilic carrier, polyvinyl caprolactam-polyvinyl acetate-polyethylene glycol graft copolymer (Soluplus). Bioadhesive pellets were prepared from this solid dispersion using a combination of HPMC K4M and Carbopol 934P.
