In the Information Age, do dementia caregivers get the information they need? Semi-structured interviews to determine informal caregivers' education needs, barriers, and preferences.

Background: Most patients with dementia or cognitive impairment receive care from family members, often untrained for this challenging role. Caregivers may not access publicly available caregiving information, and caregiver education programs are not widely implemented clinically. Prior large surveys yielded broad quantitative understanding of caregiver information needs, but do not illuminate the in-depth, rich, and nuanced caregiver perspectives that can be gleaned using qualitative methodology.

We previously reported a phase 2 trial of 69 patients with newly diagnosed anaplastic or aggressive oligodendroglioma who were treated with intensive procarbazine, CCNU (lomustine), and vincristine (PCV) followed by high-dose thiotepa with autologous stem cell rescue. This report summarizes the long-term follow-up of the cohort of 39 patients who received high-dose thiotepa with autologous stem cell support. Thirty-nine patients with a median age of 43 (range, 18-67) and a median KPS of 100 (range, 70-100) were treated.

To improve disease control and postpone cranial radiotherapy, we designed a phase II study of intensive procarbazine, lomunstine and vincristine followed by high-dose thiotepa with autologous stem cell rescue for patients with newly diagnosed anaplastic or aggressive oligodendroglioma.

Three patients with a remote history of Hodgkin's disease treated with total or subtotal lymphoid radiation 17 to 24 years earlier developed lumbosacral polyradiculopathy associated with nodular meningeal enhancement of the conus medullaris and cauda equina on MRI. None had evidence of recurrent Hodgkin's disease or second malignancy, and the MRI findings may be sequelae of radiation therapy.

Dural marginal zone lymphoma with massive amyloid deposition: rare low-grade primary central nervous system B-cell lymphoma. Case report.

The authors report the case of a 63-year-old woman who presented with a primary dural extranodal marginal zone lymphoma (MZL) associated with massive kappa light chain amyloidosis of the meninges. Extranodal MZL is a low-grade B-cell lymphoma that may show variable degrees of plasmacytic differentiation. Like solitary plasmacytoma of soft tissue, which can also be associated with amyloid, extranodal MZL generally responds well to local therapy and has a good prognosis.
