Background: Sleep disturbances are prevalent in major depressive disorder (MDD). MDD and sleep disturbances are both linked to cognitive impairments. Studies exploring the mechanisms and impact of sleep disturbances on neurocognitive functioning in depressed patients are lacking and proper assessment and therapeutic interventions for sleep disturbances are not part of clinical management of MDD.

For a long time, in Georgia, as in most eastern European and post-soviet countries, mental health services have been mainly ran in large institutions with restricted financial and professional resources. In 2010, Ministry of Health and Social Affairs of Georgia declared the reforms in mental health care system. The ongoing reforms are actively supported by many international organizations, but there still some local and cultural barriers that should be carefully analyzed.

Investigation of heroin addict patients in post-abstinent state revealed that low mood, anxiety, tension and guilt feeling increased sensitivity toward pain, which mostly experienced as algetic, coenestetick and hypochondriacal sensations. Algetic symptoms highly correlated with psychopathology. Efficient treatment of psychopathological symptoms decreased pain.

Unlabelled: The prevalence of mental illnesses in society is difficult to measure accurately as current techniques are relatively poor. Mental health professionals argue that data provided by Ministry of Health of Georgia concerning the prevalence of mental illnesses should be treated with great caution as the official rates of mental disorders are likely to be largely underestimated. The most significant reason of this could be focusing on referral to state mental health institution and ignoring the private sector.

Available information regarding the clinical features of cannabis-induced psychoses among schizophrenia patients is rather odd and even discrepant. For thorough investigation psychopathology due to marijuana intoxication, we examine two groups of schizophrenia patients. I group--14 patients, who had long history of cannabis use before developing schizophrenia, and II group--schizophrenic patients, who already had schizophrenia and later became marijuana users.

Clinical-psychopathological and experimental-psychological investigation of depressed late onset schizophrenia patients with Kandinski Klerambo's syndrome made possible to determine the most frequent subgroups of depressive states: a) apatho-adynamic depression, b) depression with cenestopathy and hypochondriac symptoms, c) depression with depersonalization and de-realization, d) melancholic depression. The experimental psychological examination with method of fixed set by D.N Uznadze revealed relatively intact personality features that could be explained by different aging factors.
