Article Synopsis
  • Odontomas are linked to familial adenomatous polyposis and involve an unclear role of Wnt/β-catenin signaling in tooth development.
  • Research showed that β-catenin accumulates in the cells of human odontomas and that Wnt/β-catenin signaling inhibits the growth of these cells while promoting immature bud formation.
  • The study identified Semaphorin 3A (Sema3A) as a key molecule in this process, where reduced Sema3A expression due to Wnt/β-catenin signaling leads to less proliferation of odontogenic cells and potential odontoma development.

Article Synopsis
  • * A case study of LGMS at the tip of the tongue was conducted, examining various immunohistochemical markers and genetic mutations linked to cancer.
  • * This case is unique as it’s the first reported instance of LGMS with intravascular invasion, despite the tumor cells showing normal mutation patterns and the MIB-1 labeling index being consistent with the original tumor.

A 6-year-old girl was admitted to our hospital because of the presence of a slow-growing tumor in her right elbow. Biopsy specimens showed a round to spindle cell neoplasm with uncertain malignant potential, leading to the decision of surgical resection. Histologically, the resected tumor was encapsulated by fibrous tissue but focally invaded the surrounding skeletal muscles.
