Few neonatal cases of soft tissue and osteoarticular infections with have been reported. We report a rare clinical presentation of necrotizing fasciitis of the foot caused by in a 17-day-old male neonate with hypoplastic left-sided heart syndrome. Fulminant progressive black skin necrosis was triggered by fresh frozen plasma leakage from the peripheral venous access.

It is characterized by calcification and thrombosis of small blood vessels. This disease leads to progressive skin calcification, necrotizing ulcers, and infections and is associated with a high mortality rate.

However, it is uncertain whether MOWHTO is an effective surgical procedure for early OA. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical results of MOWHTO for early OA of the knee with varus malalignment.

Herein, we report the case of a 61-year-old man who has been treated with MTX and sulfasalazine for seropositive RA since the age of 52. He underwent diffusion-weighted whole-body imaging with background signal suppression (DWIBS), which revealed high-intensity lesions in the affected lymph nodes of the cervical, clavicular, and axillary regions.

Methods: Consecutive patients with DCM were prospectively enrolled. AGEs assessed by skin autofluorescence (the AGE score) were examined at the middle fingertip in eligible patients.
Introduction: Romosozumab is an anti-sclerostin antibody drug with potent bone formation-promoting and bone resorption-inhibiting properties. It enhances bone mineral density and has a novel effect in preventing fractures. However, there have been reports of non-responders to romosozumab.

We hypothesized that the deeper trochlea of the ROCC would further stabilize the native patella, resulting in superior clinical outcomes compared to LCS-RP.
Methods: Consecutive patients who underwent patellar-nonresurfacing primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA) using ROCC or LCS-RP were retrospectively reviewed.
Patients with dialysis are at high risk of reoperation after lumbar spinal fusion surgery. However, the risk of reoperation after short-segment (≤2 fusion levels) lumbar spinal fusion surgery in this patient group has not been completely investigated. This study aimed to compare the risk of reoperation after short-segment lumbar spinal fusion surgery between patients with dialysis and matched controls without dialysis.

We performed PSPD in a cohort of patients when LLD was observed at the time of implant removal surgery after proximal femoral osteotomy for Perthes disease. This study aimed to clarify the efficacy and safety of PSPD for acquired LLD related to Perthes disease.

However, the effect of facet joint destruction on radiographic and clinical outcomes after microendoscopic laminectomy (MEL) is unknown. Therefore, the current study aimed to examine the effect of facet joint resection on radiographic and clinical outcomes after single-level MEL surgery.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the association of changes in arithmetic hip-knee-ankle angle (aHKA) with both postoperative joint laxity and patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) in patients with CPAK type I following mechanical alignment (MA) total knee arthroplasty (TKA).
Methods: Of 111 consecutive knees in 92 patients with osteoarthritis who underwent primary TKA, 80 knees (72.
Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of locomotion training on bone mineral density (BMD) and the factors associated with increased BMD in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA).
Methods: We enrolled 85 patients with RA who underwent locomotion training for 6 months after receiving instructions from a physical therapist. We evaluated the BMD of the lumbar spine, total hip, and femoral neck 1 year before baseline (the start of locomotion training) and 1 year after baseline.
Background: The long-term effects of daily teriparatide (D-TPTD) and twice-weekly TPTD (W-TPTD) injections are compared among postmenopausal women with severe osteoporosis.
Methods: A total of 102 patients were enrolled and randomly allocated into two groups for the administration of either D-TPTD or W-TPTD. Treatment efficacy was measured as the percentage change in bone mineral density (ΔBMD) from baseline in the lumbar spine, total hip, and femoral neck.
The powdered form of oxidized regenerated cellulose (ORC powder) is a widely used biodegradable hemostatic material in the field of surgery. There are several reports of its effectiveness and safety; however, excessive foreign body reactions remain a concern for surgeons in total knee arthroplasty (TKA). A 70-year-old woman who underwent unilateral TKA using ORC powder to control perioperative blood loss exhibited a skin rash around her operated knee at six days postoperatively.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThere have been no earlier reports of knee osteoarthritis with valgus knee deformity in which the patellar tendon infiltrates the tibial bone marrow instead of attaching to the tibial tubercle. This case report describes a total knee arthroplasty (TKA) performed for the treatment of a primary knee osteoarthritis resulting from a valgus knee joint position attributed to an abnormality of the patellar ligament attachment. During a TKA, the tendon tissue in the tibial medullary canal interfered with the reamer used to prepare for the stem extensions needed to improve the fixation of the component on the tibia, which had a cortical defect.

We also evaluated the difference in postoperative function between patients with fractured and intact implants as a secondary objective.
Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted on 372 fingers of 133 hands that underwent silicone MCP arthroplasty between January 2000 and June 2019 (mean follow-up, 7.
Purpose: This study aims to compare the effect of using O-arm and C-arm fluoroscopy on the surgical outcomes of occipitocervical fixation.
Methods: The study included patients who underwent occipitocervical fixation using O-arm or C-arm between 2005 and 2021. Of 56 patients, 34 underwent O-arm-assisted surgery (O-group) and 22 underwent C-arm-assisted surgery (C-group).
Introduction: Medial closed-wedge distal femoral osteotomy (MCWDFO) is a valuable treatment approach for lateral knee osteoarthritis with femoral valgus deformity. Improved results have been reported with the upgrade of surgical techniques and locking plates. However, the risk of nonunion and loss of correction increases in cases of lateral hinge fractures.

We experienced a case of recurrent periprosthetic fracture in a patient who had undergone ipsilateral hip bipolar hemiarthroplasty (BHA) and total knee arthroplasty. Based on our experience, we discuss the treatment strategy for periprosthetic fractures in patients at a high risk of fall.
