Practical implementation of automated insulin delivery systems in 2025: A French position statement update.

The advent of automated insulin delivery (AID) systems in 2020 marked a disruptive event in managing type 1 diabetes, benefiting children and adults alike. By 2024, advances in real-world data and research motivated an update to the French consensus on AID systems to expand accessibility, refine guidelines, and optimize patient follow-up. AID systems have consistently improved glycemic control by reducing HbA1c, increasing time-in-range (TIR), and minimizing hypoglycemia, with significant benefits even for specific populations such as individuals with poor glycemic control, brittle diabetes, children, very young children, pregnant women, those with insulin resistance or gastroparesis, or after bariatric surgery.

Benzimidazole-based mononuclear polypyridyl Cu(II) complexes: DNA binding, cleavage, and antiproliferative studies.

This paper addresses the synthesis, characterization, DNA binding, cleavage, and antiproliferative activity studies of a series of heteroleptic mononuclear copper(II) complexes [Cu(L)(bpy)](ClO), {1}; [Cu(L)(phen)](ClO), {2}; and [Cu(L)(Mephen)](ClO), {3} derived from different polypyridyl ligands, where in the complex architecture, one 2,6-bis(1-methyl-1-benzo[]imidazol-2-yl)pyridine(Mebzimpy) (L) moiety is connected to the central Cu metal in a tridentate fashion and the bidentate co-ligands are 2,2'-bipyridine (bpy), 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) and 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline (Mephen). All the synthesized complexes were characterized using various spectroscopic and analytical methods, along with the single-crystal X-ray diffraction (SCXRD) technique. The complexes crystallize in a penta-coordinated distorted square pyramidal geometry.

Discrepancy in efficiency scores due to sampling error in data envelopment analysis methodology: evidence from the banking sector.

Background: Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) methodology is considered the most suitable approach for relative performance efficiency calculation for banks as it is believed to be superior to traditional ratio-based analysis and other conventional performance evaluations. This study provides statistical evidence on the sampling error that can creep into performance evaluation studies using the DEA methodology. Inferences are drawn based on samples, and various preventive measures must be taken to eliminate or avoid sampling errors and misleading results.

Microbiological Investigations for Chikungunya Virus in Children With Acute Encephalitis Syndrome in a Non-Outbreak Setting in Southern India.

Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) is an emerging cause of acute encephalitis syndrome (AES) in India, with limited data on its role in childhood AES in southern India. We systematically evaluated children with AES in southern India during a non-epidemic period for CHIKV. Serum and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) samples were tested for CHIKV using IgM ELISA and real-time reverse transcriptase PCR.

Videostrobokymographic Analysis of Stroboscopic Footage With Unsteady Laryngeal Positions From Phononormals.

Aim: This study aimed (i) to extract videostrobokymograms (VSK) and measure the objective metrics of vocal fold vibration from stroboscopic footage with unsteady laryngeal positions using a customized approach that utilized the Lucas-Kanade optical flow method-alongside other preprocessing methods and kymogram extraction techniques and (ii) to juxtapose the readings of Electroglottography (EGG) with the extracted VSK metrics.

Method: Sixty-three tokens of videostroboscopy and EGG were obtained from 21 phononormals. The videostroboscopic samples were then subjected to pre-processing for optimization.

Background: Vaping during pregnancy remains under researched and under reported, making appropriate prevention, health promotion and intervention difficult to design and mount. In this article we assessed the experiences and considerations of women who vape during pregnancy and/or within 2 years post-partum, in order to underpin realistic and informative health information for women and providers in face of conflicting and minimal guidance.

Design: 22 interviews were conducted with pregnant and post-partum women who vape(d) nicotine, cannabis, or both during pregnancy and/or after delivery.

The nucleolin antagonist N6L and paclitaxel combination treatment could be a new promising therapeutic strategy for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma therapy.

Pancreatic cancer (PCa) is one of the most devastating cancers with few clinical signs and no truly effective therapy. In recent years, our team has demonstrated that nucleolin antagonists such as N6L could be a therapeutic alternative for this disease. In order to study a possible clinic development of N6L (multivalent pseudopeptide), we undertook to study the effect of combination of N6L with chemotherapies classically used for PCa on the survival of pancreatic cancer cells.

3D modeling to predict vascular involvement in resectable pancreatic adenocarcinoma.

Background: Current management of patients with borderline resectable pancreatic adenocarcinoma (BR-PDAC) depends on the degree of involvement of the major arterial and venous structures. The aim of this study was to evaluate 3D segmentation and printing to predict tumor size and vascular involvement of BR-PDAC to improve pre-operative planning of vascular resection and better select patients for neoadjuvant therapy.

Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 16 patients with BR-PDAC near vascular structures who underwent pancreatoduodenectomy (PD) with or without vascular resection between 2015 and 2021.

This study examined how body mass index, biological sex, and eating context influence food attribute perception, the food choice process, and the percentage of healthy food choices.

Staple principles for the definition of front-of-pack nutritional labels.

Front-of-pack nutrition labels (FOPNLs) have been developed since 1989 to curb the increasing prevalence of obesity and non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and to promote healthy consumption choices. While several countries have introduced their own labeling schemes on a voluntary basis, the European Commission aims to harmonize a FOPNL system that will be mandatory for all member states. This paper summarizes a contribution to the current debate on FOPNLs from Italian and Spanish researchers working in the fields of human nutrition, nutritional epidemiology and public health education and communication policy before the final decision on FOPNLs to become mandatory in Europe is taken.

A study on the clinical manifestations in lepidopterism.

Background: Exposure to hairs of caterpillars and moths are collectively termed as lepidopterism. Clinical manifestations include cutaneous presentation of localized stinging reaction with wheals or vesiculation, acute urticarial papules and plaques, ophthalmic, oropharyngeal involvement to severe life-threatening anaphylactic reactions with angioedema.

Aims: In this study we have determined the prevalence of various cutaneous, oropharyngeal and ophthalmic manifestations of lepidopterism at a tertiary health care center.

The deep neural network design utilizes multi-scale feature fusion to improve automated diagnostic accuracy. Pneumolabyrinth is a rare entity in a case of squamous chronic otitis media in the practice of otology. We report a case of 56 year male, a known case of Squamous Chronic Otitis Media who was diagnosed as a case of Pneumolabyrinth associated with a Perilymphatic fistula. Diagnosis was done with the help of audiometry and High-Resolution Computed Tomography of Temporal Bone in background of his symptoms.

Caprine livestock are significant reservoirs of the complex (MTBC), contributing to tuberculosis (TB) transmission among animals and humans. The P22 protein immunocomplex (P22PI), derived from bovine tuberculin, shows immunostimulating capacity and is used for TB diagnosis. This study assessed the immunogenicity and protective efficacy of P22PI in two groups of goats: 24 naïve goats (12 immunised, 12 controls) from a TB-free herd, and 24 infected goats (12 immunised, 12 controls), referred to as pre-infected animals, from a -infected herd.
