Inborn errors of metabolism are a diverse group of genetic disorders including many that cause neonatal-onset epilepsy such as pyridoxine-dependent epilepsy (PDE). PDE occurs secondary to biallelic pathogenic variants in and can present with refractory neonatal seizures and status epilepticus. Neonatal seizures and encephalopathy are modifiable with pyridoxine (vitamin B6) supplementation.

Objective: Augmented reality devices are increasingly accepted in health care, though most applications involve education and pre-operative planning. A novel augmented reality ultrasound application, HoloUS, was developed for the Microsoft HoloLens 2 to project real-time ultrasound images directly into the user's field of view. Objective: Compassionate extubation (CE) can be stressful for staff and families in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Our quality improvement initiative developed and implemented a novel symptom management and family support checklist and post-debriefing template to improve team communication and staff support.

Study Design: An interprofessional team performed a needs assessment, determined key drivers and intervention steps, and implemented changes using Plan-Do-Study-Act cycles.
