Utilization of Participatory Research Theory and a National Framework to Advance a State Food Security Research Agenda: A Mixed-Methods Study.

The 2022 White House National Strategy on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health outlined goals for ending hunger in the US. Actions fell into five areas, called pillars; the goal of Pillar 5 was to enhance nutrition and food security research. This study leveraged participatory research theory and the National Strategy for developing a statewide, evidence-informed food security research agenda.

Greater Severity and Functional Impact of Post-traumatic Headache in Veterans With Comorbid Neck Pain Following Traumatic Brain Injury.

Background: Post-traumatic headache (PTH) is a commonly experienced symptom after mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI). Blast injury- or blunt injury-related mechanisms for mTBI in veterans can also affect musculoskeletal structures in the neck, resulting in comorbid neck pain (NP). However, it is unknown whether the presence of comorbid NP may be associated with a different pattern of headache symptoms, physical functioning, or emotional functioning compared to those without comorbid NP.

Roadside drug testing: An evaluation of the Alere DDS 2 mobile test system.

The number of drivers using drugs has increased over the last few years, and is likely to continue its upward trend. Testing drivers for alcohol use is routine and standardized, but the same is not true for the identification of driving under the influence of drugs (DUID). The Drug Evaluation and Classification Program (DECP) was developed to train police officers to recognize the signs and symptoms of recent drug use and remains an invaluable program; however, there are insufficient numbers of these highly trained drug recognition experts (DREs) available to attend every potential drug involved traffic incident.
