Increasingly, people attending HIV services are requesting long-acting injectable (LAI) antiretroviral treatment (ART). However, without HIV RNA resistance-associated mutation results, individuals are considered unsuitable for LAI ART. We present our experience of sequencing proviral HIV DNA in 30 individuals to inform suitability for LAI ART, of whom 23 were considered suitable.

Despite being outside of the traditionally defined photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) waveband (400-700 nm), far-red (FR; 700-799 nm) light can increase photosynthesis and induce shade-avoidance responses, which increases light interception and thus, whole-plant growth. However, it is unclear how the promotion of growth from FR light depends on PAR wavebands and specifically how the substitution of red light (600-699 nm) with green light (500-599 nm) influences the efficacy of FR light on increasing shoot biomass accumulation. Gallium (Ga) recovery from the red mud, though important has never been successful due to several technical and economic reasons such as contaminant interference and the high cost of membranes due to their faster saturation resulting in the clogging of membranes with contaminants. This study demonstrated the recovery of Ga by a combination of HCl-based leaching, Fe/Al/Ti separation, and recovery of Ga using Cyphos IL 104-based solvent extraction and complexation of Ga with desferrioxamine B as a proof-of-principle of the GaLIophore technology. The main leaching parameters such as concentrations of acids, time and temperature of the reaction, and solid-to-liquid ratio have been systematically investigated.

We analyzed data from a randomized clinical trial of the mRNA-1273 vaccine (NCT04811664) to describe the patterns of uptake of COVID-19 vaccines among young adults.

In vitro studies have shown that deletion of nef and deleterious mutation in the Nef dimerization interface attenuates HIV replication and associated pathogenesis. Humanized rodents with human immune cells and lymphoid tissues are robust in vivo models for investigating the interactions between HIV and the human immune system. Here, we demonstrate that nef deletion impairs HIV replication and HIV-induced immune dysregulation in the blood and human secondary lymphoid tissue (human spleen) in bone marrow-liver-thymus-spleen (BLTS) humanized mice.

Certain caregiver feeding practices, including restrictive feeding for weight control, restrictive feeding for health, emotion regulation feeding, and reward feeding, are known to negatively influence short- and long-term child eating and health outcomes. Beyond body size, the precise psychosocial characteristics of caregivers more likely to engage in such feeding practices are unknown. In particular, caregivers who have experienced discrimination based on their weight, who have internalized those biased beliefs, or who find food to be very rewarding may be more likely to use restrictive or controlling feeding practices.
