A laparoscopic approach to cesarean scar ectopic pregnancy.

Cesarean scar pregnancies confer serious risk and severe morbidity. Appropriate management is the key to preventing complications. Although expectant management is usually contraindicated, the ideal combination of medical or surgical treatments is unclear and must be tailored to the patient's preferences and stability, provider skill, and the available resources.

Utility of Endocervical Sampling at Time of Colposcopy when Referral Cytology Is Low Grade or Better.

The utility of endocervical sampling at the time of colposcopic examination after less than high-grade screening Papanicolaou smear is unknown. To address this question, we performed a retrospective review using a colposcopy patient care database maintained at our urban academic medical center. We examined the prevalence of high-grade dysplasia in endocervical samples, the prevalence of high-grade dysplasia in directed cervical biopsies, and the correlations between high-grade endocervical dysplasia and patient factors of age and time to colposcopy.

Current practice patterns in cervical cancer screening in Indiana.

Objective: The purpose of this study is to describe current health care provider cervical cancer screening practice patterns for average-risk women in the state of Indiana in comparison to the 2012 guidelines as well as earlier guidelines. We also aim to describe what factors are associated with increased adherence to guidelines, and what factors may impede adherence.

Study Design: We conducted a vignette-based survey among a convenience sample of obstetricians, gynecologists, midwives, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants attending the Indiana American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Section meeting in January 2013.

Laparoscopic hysterectomy in patients with prior renal transplantation.

With improvement in immunosuppression and surgical techniques, more women are undergoing renal transplantation for management of end-stage renal disease. Location of the transplanted pelvic kidney and transplanted ureter must be taken into consideration when performing pelvic surgery. Two cases in which laparoscopic hysterectomy was successfully performed in patients who had previously undergone renal transplantation are reported.
