Objective: Cesarean delivery on maternal request (elective-CD) increased between 1999 and 2015 in the United States, but multiple studies have reported the association between elective-CD and adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes. More contemporary trends and outcomes are currently unknown. The objective of the current study was to examine contemporaneous trends and outcomes of patients who had elective-CD in the United States.

Methods: This retrospective cohort study queried the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project's National Inpatient Sample, evaluating 7395 patients with cervical carcinoma in situ who underwent hysterectomy from 2016 to 2019. A multivariable binary logistic regression model was fitted to identify independent characteristics related to lymph node evaluation.
