Objective: To determine the risk of nodal metastases to the central compartment from differentiated papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) relative to known prognostic variables.
Design: A 7-year single-institutional retrospective review.
Setting: Tertiary academic center.
Deregulation of transforming growth factor-beta (TGFbeta) signaling has been reported in human psoriasis. Our recent study using a keratin 5 promoter (K5.TGFbeta1(wt)) showed that transgenic mice expressing wild-type TGFbeta1 in the epidermis developed severe skin inflammation.

Although thyroid nodules are a common clinical entity, few (5% to 10%) are malignant and require surgical treatment. Most nodules are discovered incidentally in patients undergoing surveillance for medical reasons unrelated to thyroid disorders. Therefore, a systematic approach to their evaluation is important to avoid unnecessary surgery.

Methods: Consecutive patients undergoing infrainguinal bypass for CLI were retrospectively entered into a technical and functional outcomes database. The patients were enrolled from the tertiary referral vascular surgery practices at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and Southern Illinois University Medical School.
