Background: In the 21st century, disasters (particularly earthquakes, which remain the leading cause of death) continue to be among the foremost issues requiring global emergency response. While the impact of advancing technologies on the environmental and human damage caused by earthquakes is still a subject of debate, search and rescue (SAR) teams and emergency departments (ED), specifically emergency physicians (EPs), play a crucial role in the most acute management of the effects of these earthquakes on human life. This study aims to examine the injury dynamics of two catastrophic earthquakes that occurred in Turkey 24 years apart from the perspective of EPs, utilizing archival records from the SAR teams in which EPs served.

Coumarin compounds have heterocyclic core with different properties such as high quantum yields, broad Stokes shifts, and superior photophysical and biological activity. It is known that fluorescence properties increase with increased intramolecular charge transfer in systems where electron-withdrawing or donor groups are attached to different positions of the coumarin compound. When these compounds interact with analytes in the environment, the analytes in the environment can be detected by quenching or increasing fluorescence.

Forty-eight patients and forty healthy individuals were included to the study and allocated into four group. Benign Group I (pleomorphic adenoma), Group II (Warthin's tumor), Group III (mucoepidermoid carcinoma) and Group IV (benign parotid control group, healthy control group).

While some PCLs are precursors to pancreatic cancer, others remain benign, necessitating accurate differentiation for optimal patient care. Conventional approaches to PCL management rely heavily on radiographic imaging, and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) guided fine-needle aspiration (FNA), coupled with clinical and biochemical data.

Chemical probes have gained importance in the elucidation of signal transduction in biology. Insufficient selectivity and potency, lack of cellular activity and inappropriate use of chemical probes has major consequences on interpretation of biological results. The catalytic subunit of phosphoinositide 3-kinase α (PI3Kα) is one of the most frequently mutated genes in cancer, but fast-acting, high-quality probes to define PI3Kα's specific function to clearly separate it from other class I PI3K isoforms, are not available.

While CT-based pancreatic segmentation is more established, MRI-based segmentation methods are understudied, largely due to a lack of publicly available datasets, benchmarking research efforts, and domain-specific deep learning methods. In this retrospective study, we collected a large dataset (767 scans from 499 participants) of T1-weighted (T1 W) and T2-weighted (T2 W) abdominal MRI series from five centers between March 2004 and November 2022.

Rectus sheath block (RSB) is increasingly utilized as a part of multimodal analgesia. The purpose of this three blinded, randomized-controlled trial is to compare the analgesic efficacy of ultrasound-guided (US-guided) bilateral rectus sheath block (BRSB) and local anesthetic wound infiltration (LAWI) application in patients undergoing midline laparotomy for gynecologic cancer.

Di-(2-Ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) is one of the phthalates most frequently used in a wide range of applications, including medical equipment such as endotracheal and feeding tubes, intravenous catheters, central lines, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation sets, total parenteral nutrition bags, blood product sets, and intravenous pump lines, respiratory sets in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs). Studies have shown that phthalates, including DEHP, can cross the placenta and blood-brain barrier, possibly leading to neurodevelopmental impairment in vitro and in vivo.

This study assessed the impact of eHealth literacy on maternal-fetal health outcomes through a cross-sectional analysis of 1,265 pregnant women admitted to a tertiary maternity hospital in Turkey between April and July 2022. Data on sociodemographic information, obstetric variables, birth outcomes, Internet usage, and eHealth Literacy Scale (eHEALS) were collected.

Choriocarcinoma is a rare and highly malignant tumor that primarily occurs in women of reproductive age. Choriocarcinoma can be classified as gestational or nongestational, based on its pathogenetic origin. Although primary nongestational choriocarcinoma has been described in the ovaries, it is very rare in the uterus, especially in postmenopausal women.

Objective: To evaluate safety, efficacy, pre- and postoperative outcomes of vNOTES hysterectomy compared to conventional laparoscopic (CL) hysterectomy.
Material And Methods: This prospective study was conducted on patients who underwent CL or vNOTES hysterectomy for benign gynecological indications between January and July 2021. Sociodemographic, clinical, and surgical data were collected.
Objective: The aim of the study was to examine the relationship between social support, marital dissatisfaction, psychological factors, and health-promoting behaviors in pregnant women.
Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 1,265 pregnant women who visited the outpatient clinic of a maternity hospital between May and August 2023. The Health Promotion Lifestyle-II Questionnaire was used to measure the healthy lifestyle behaviors of pregnant women.
Objective: The objective of this study was to identify the factors associated with anemia among pregnant women attending a tertiary referral hospital in Mogadishu, Somalia.
Methods: An unmatched case-control study was conducted on pregnant women who visited the antenatal clinics of a tertiary referral hospital between March and July 2021. The study recruited pregnant women who had a hemoglobin level of <11 g/dL into the anemic group, while those with hemoglobin levels ≥11 g/dL were included in the non-anemic group.
The current toolkit for genetic manipulation in the model animal Drosophila melanogaster is extensive and versatile but not without its limitations. Here, we report a powerful and heritable method to knockdown gene expression in D. melanogaster using the self-cleaving N79 hammerhead ribozyme, a modification of a naturally occurring ribozyme found in the parasite Schistosoma mansoni.

Intraductal Papillary Mucinous Neoplasm (IPMN) cysts are pre-malignant pancreas lesions, and they can progress into pancreatic cancer. Therefore, detecting and stratifying their risk level is of ultimate importance for effective treatment planning and disease control. However, this is a highly challenging task because of the diverse and irregular shape, texture, and size of the IPMN cysts as well as the pancreas.
