Internal consistency of the Mental Health Professional Culture Inventory: A pilot study in Romanian population.

The objective of this study (registered under number 2020 006) was to assess the internal consistency of the revised Mental Health Professional Culture Inventory (MHPCI) scale, which comprises 15 items, among mental health service workers in Romania. To examine the psychometric properties of the MHPCI questionnaire within the Romanian population, we employed two main methods: The partial credit model (PCM) and Exploratory factor analysis (EFA). A total of 94 individuals were interviewed, and among them, 71 provided complete responses to the questionnaire.

Survival Benefit of Stereotactic Radiotherapy in the Complex Management of Metastatic Melanoma.

Background/aim: Targeted therapy and immunotherapy, with additional stereotactic radiation therapy (SRT) have revolutionized the management of metastatic malignant melanoma (mMM). We aimed to analyze the effectiveness and safety of SRT and determine its role in the complex management of mMM.

Patients And Methods: We treated 24 patients with solitary metastasis, 15 with oligometastatic disease and one with multiple metastases.

Radiotherapy-induced heterotopic tissue calcification is an exceedingly rare complication in the head and neck region. We report a patient with extensive, radiotherapy-induced, combined subcutaneous and intramuscular, heterotopic calcification of the neck. An 80-year-old male presented with a 2-month history of severe dysphagia and a painful ulcer on the neck 42 years after salvage total laryngectomy following radiotherapy (total dose: 80 Gy) for a T3N0M0 glottic squamous cell carcinoma.

Purpose: The aim of this article is to establish a comprehensive contouring guideline for treatment planning using only magnetic resonance images through an up-to-date set of organs at risk (OARs), recommended organ boundaries, and relevant suggestions for the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-based delineation of OARs in the head and neck (H&N) region.

Methods And Materials: After a detailed review of the literature, MRI data were collected from the H&N region of healthy volunteers. OARs were delineated in the axial, coronal, and sagittal planes on T2-weighted sequences.

BC-Monitor: Towards a Routinely Accessible Circulating Tumor DNA-Based Tool for Real-Time Monitoring Breast Cancer Progression and Treatment Effectiveness.

Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) is increasingly employed in the screening, follow-up, and monitoring of the continuously evolving tumor; however, most ctDNA assays validated for clinical use cannot maintain the right balance between sensitivity, coverage, sample requirements, time, and cost. Here, we report our BC-monitor, a simple, well-balanced ctDNA diagnostic approach using a gene panel significant in breast cancer and an optimized multiplex PCR-based NGS protocol capable of identifying allele variant frequencies below 1% in cell-free plasma DNA. We monitored a cohort of 45 breast cancer patients prospectively enrolled into our study receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy or endocrine therapy or palliative therapy for metastatic diseases.

The impact of the early phase of the COVID-19 pandemic on mental-health services in Europe.

Purpose: The current COVID-19 pandemic confronts psychiatric patients and mental health services with unique and severe challenges.

Methods: In order to identify these trans-national challenges across Europe, an survey was conducted among 23 experts, each answering for one European or aligned country.

Results: A number of important themes and issues were raised for the impact of COVID-19 on mental health and mental health services, barriers to service provision and future consequences.

Coiled-coiled proteins such as DivIVA play an important role in this process. The genome of , the causative agent of tuberculosis, encodes many coiled-coil proteins that are homologous to DivIVA with a potential role in mycobacterial cell elongation.

The available literature and protocols have unequivocally suggested that the Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment of Alcohol, Revised is a psychometric scale for identifying and following the signs of alcohol withdrawal. However, there has not been any validated tool for the identification of withdrawal symptoms in Hungarian general hospital settings. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the validity and the reliability of the Hungarian version of this scale among patients hospitalized with alcohol withdrawal syndrome.

Cognitive Functioning and Psychological Well-being in Breast Cancer Patients on Endocrine Therapy.

Background/aim: Anti-cancer therapies may deteriorate cognitive functioning, affective functioning and psychological well-being.

Materials And Methods: In this prospective longitudinal pilot study, premenopausal and postmenopausal patients received adjuvant endocrine therapy (ET) (tamoxifen with or without LHRH analog or aromatase inhibitor) or were observed only (control group). At baseline testing and 6, 12 and 24 months thereafter, cognitive, depression and anxiety tests and quality of life (QOL) measurements were performed.

The present study focuses on some historical aspects of this polarisation or dichotomy, as it was exemplified in the contrasting life-works of two scholars of addictionology: Laszlo Levendel and Thomas Szasz.

Intermediate Filaments Supporting Cell Shape and Growth in Bacteria.

For years intermediate filaments (IF), belonging to the third class of filamentous cytoskeletal proteins alongside microtubules and actin filaments, were thought to be exclusive to metazoan cells. Structurally these eukaryote IFs are very well defined, consisting of globular head and tail domains, which flank the central rod-domain. This central domain is dominated by an α-helical secondary structure predisposed to form the characteristic coiled-coil, parallel homo-dimer.

A sporulation-specific, sigF-dependent protein, SspA, affects septum positioning in Streptomyces coelicolor.

The RNA polymerase sigma factor SigF controls late development during sporulation in the filamentous bacterium Streptomyces coelicolor. The only known SigF-dependent gene identified so far, SCO5321, is found in the biosynthetic cluster encoding spore pigment synthesis. Here we identify the first direct target for SigF, the gene sspA, encoding a sporulation-specific protein.

The use of digital images improves reproducibility of the ki-67 labeling index as a proliferation marker in breast cancer.

The proportion of Ki-67 immunostained cells (Ki-67 labeling index, LI) is one of the most commonly used histology methods for estimating proliferation of breast carcinomas. Although the Ki-67 LI is used in treatment decision making, its reproducibility shows variation in different studies, and is generally less then optimal. The aim of the present study was to investigate how the use of a standardized, partially digitalized counting method could affect reproducibility of determining the Ki-67 LI.

Dynamic interplay of ParA with the polarity protein, Scy, coordinates the growth with chromosome segregation in Streptomyces coelicolor.

Prior to bacterial cell division, the ATP-dependent polymerization of the cytoskeletal protein, ParA, positions the newly replicated origin-proximal region of the chromosome by interacting with ParB complexes assembled on parS sites located close to the origin. During the formation of unigenomic spores from multi-genomic aerial hyphae compartments of Streptomyces coelicolor, ParA is developmentally triggered to form filaments along the hyphae; this promotes the accurate and synchronized segregation of tens of chromosomes into prespore compartments. Here, we show that in addition to being a segregation protein, ParA also interacts with the polarity protein, Scy, which is a component of the tip-organizing centre that controls tip growth.

Polarized growth in eukaryotes requires polar multiprotein complexes. Here, we establish that selection and maintenance of cell polarity for growth also requires a dedicated multiprotein assembly in the filamentous bacterium, Streptomyces coelicolor. We present evidence for a tip organizing center and confirm two of its main components: Scy (Streptomyces cytoskeletal element), a unique bacterial coiled-coil protein with an unusual repeat periodicity, and the known polarity determinant DivIVA.

The relationship of multifocality and tumor burden with various tumor characteristics and survival in early breast cancer.

The presence of multifocality and the aggregate tumor size were retrospectively analysed in a database of 1071 operated breast cancers. Around a quarter of all these cancers involved multiple foci, while a tenth of the total demonstrated more than one invasive focus. Although the multifocal cancers were smaller and more often screen-detected than the unifocal cancers, their aggregate tumor size was larger, and they more frequently displayed casting-type calcifications in the mammogram and HER2 positivity.
