The role of micronutrients in autoimmune thyroiditis (AIT) has been controversial and lacks sufficient genetic evidence. This study aimed to assess the relationships between various micronutrients and AIT by Mendelian randomization (MR). The single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of micronutrients and AIT were acquired from IEU Open GWAS project and FinnGen, and were screened according to the basic assumptions of MR.

The role of particulate matter (PM) on genetic susceptibility to inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a controversial topic. The study aims to evaluate the causal effect of PM on IBD using Mendelian randomization (MR). PM and IBD datasets were screened for common single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) based on the MR basic assumptions.

Objective: This study aims to analyze the causal relationship between autoimmune thyroiditis (AIT) and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) using bidirectional Mendelian randomization (MR).

Methods: Single nucleotide polymorphisms were obtained from FinnGen. Exposure-outcome causality was assessed using inverse variance weighted, MR-Egger, and weighted median.

Objective: Whether the role of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) on type 2 diabetes (T2D) is mediated by obesity or other mediating factors is controversial. This study was designed to assess the impact of PTSD on genetic susceptibility to T2D and mediating factors.

Methods: The datasets for PTSD, T2D, obesity, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, smoking status, and alcohol consumption were obtained from genome-wide association studies.

Objective: The relationship between diabetes mellitus (DM) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD) remains controversial. This study aimed to analyze the causal relationship between different types of DM and ASD by bidirectional Mendelian randomization (MR).

Methods: Single nucleotide polymorphisms for type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM), type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), and ASD were obtained from genome-wide association studies.

Background: The impact of type 1 diabetes (T1D) on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) remains unclear.

Aim: To analyze the causal relationship between T1D and IBD using Mendelian ran-domization (MR).

Methods: Single nucleotide polymorphisms were sourced from FinnGen for T1D, IBD, ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's disease (CD).

Background: The benefits and risks of Xileisan (XLS) in the treatment of ulcerative colitis (UC) remain unclear.

Aim: The present study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the combination of XLS and mesalazine when treating UC.

Methods: We searched eight databases for clinical trials evaluating the combination of XLS and mesalazine in the treatment of UC, up to January 2024.

Article Synopsis
  • This study investigates the causal link between hepatitis B virus (HBV) and the risk of type 2 diabetes (T2D) using a method called Mendelian randomization.
  • Researchers analyzed genetic data on chronic hepatitis B, liver conditions, and T2D from large databases.
  • The findings suggest that chronic hepatitis B may reduce the risk of developing T2D, while liver cirrhosis and fibrosis increase that risk, potentially changing the relationship based on the severity of the liver disease.

Background: The effects of viral hepatitis (VH) on type 2 diabetes (T2D) remain controversial.

Aim: To analyze the causal correlation between different types of VH and T2D using Mendelian randomization (MR).

Methods: Single nucleotide polymorphisms of VH, chronic hepatitis B (CHB), chronic hepatitis C (CHC) and T2D were obtained from the BioBank Japan Project, European Bioinformatics Institute, and FinnGen.

Objective: The effect of tea on gout and uric acid is still controversial. This study aims to analyze the effect of tea intake on genetic predisposition to gout, idiopathic gout, gout due to impairment of renal function as well as uric acid by Mendelian randomization (MR).

Methods: Forty independent single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with tea intake were selected from UK Biobank.

Background: As an emerging potential risk factor for gastric cancer, autoimmune gastritis (AIG) has garnered increasing attention from researchers.

Aim: To analyze the research overview and popular topics in the field of AIG using bibliometrics.

Methods: Relevant publications on AIG in the Web of Science Core Collection were collated, and data visualization and analysis of the number of publications, countries, institutions, journals, authors, keywords, and citations were performed using software such as VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and Scimago Graphic.

Background: Tirzepatide (TZP) is a novel drug for type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), but the gastrointestinal (GI) adverse events (AEs) is a limiting factor in clinical application. Therefore, this study systematically evaluated the GI AEs of TZP for T2DM.

Methods: Clinical trials of TZP for T2DM were retrieved from eight databases published only from the establishment of the database to February 2023.

The formation mechanism of the delayed crack after flame cutting and mechanical properties in thick NM550 wear-resistant steel are studied by optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and an electron backscattered diffractometer. The delayed crack is formed at the segregation zone (SZ) located in the center of the 65 mm thick steel plate. The strength of the non-segregation zone (NSZ) with a martensite microstructure is slightly higher than that of SZ with a mixture microstructure of martensite plus bainite, and the plasticity of NSZ is significantly better than that of SZ.
