This paper explores the development of 3D-printed self-sensing Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC) by incorporating graphite (G) powder, milled carbon microfiber (MCMF), and chopped carbon microfiber (CCMF) as additives into the UHPC matrix to enhance piezoresistive properties while maintaining workability for 3D printing. Percolation curves were established to identify optimal filler inclusion levels, and a series of compressive tests, including quasi-static cyclic, dynamic cyclic, and monotonic compressive loading, were conducted to evaluate the piezoresistive and mechanical performance of 29 different mix designs. It was found that incorporating G powder improved the conductivity of the UHPC but decreased compressive strength for both mold-cast and 3D-printed specimens.

Superabsorbent polymers (SAPs) are a promising admixture that can provide internal curing to freshly cast concrete and enhance concrete properties. Although many reviews have explored aspects of SAPs, the links among SAPs' chemical and physical properties, internal curing behaviors, concrete performance, and their large-scale applications are often weakly elucidated. This paper provides an additional review of the chemical structures and physical dimensions of SAPs and their effects on the internal curing kinetic behavior as well as on concrete properties, such as workability, strength, and durability.

The loss-of-function mutation of AT-rich interactive domain 1A (ARID1A) frequently occurs in various types of cancer, making it a promising therapeutic target. In the present study, we performed a screening of an FDA-approved drug library in ARID1A isogenic colorectal cancer (CRC) cells and discovered that ARID1A loss sensitizes CRC cells to floxuridine (FUDR), an antineoplastic agent used for treating hepatic metastases from CRC, both in vivo and in vitro. As a pyrimidine analogue, FUDR induces DNA damage by inhibiting thymidylate synthase (TS) activity.

ARID1A, a component of the SWI/SNF chromatin-remodeling complex, is frequently mutated in various cancer types and has emerged as a potential therapeutic target. In this study, we observed that ARID1A-deficient colorectal cancer (CRC) cells showed synthetic lethal effects with a p53 activator, RITA (reactivating p53 and inducing tumor apoptosis). RITA, an inhibitor of the p53-MDM2 interaction, exhibits increased sensitivity in ARID1A-deficient cells compared to ARID1A wild-type cells.

Agglomerated carbon nanotube (CNT) powder was scattered into a cement paste layer-by-layer to form layer-distributed CNT composite (LDCC) as intelligent cement-based sensor. The characteristic of the CNT agglomerations and its effect on the mechanical and piezoresistive properties of cement paste were investigated in this study, and the results were compared with those of uniformly-dispersed CNT composites (UDCC). Based on the statistics of CNT agglomerations, it was found that the sizes of agglomerations varied from several to dozens of micrometres.
